Hi! My name is Rachel, I am an independent animator currently working on a 2D animated freelance series, and am looking to add some additional artists to the production team. I hired on some of our crew back in December, but would like to expand the team a bit more. The work is paid, and prices are negotiable. $35 is listed on this casting call as sort of a base-line price for background work, and $10 for prop artists; other roles are looking for quotes. Keep in mind, I am a college student on a budget, so if your offer is unreasonably high, I will not be able to consider you.
I am looking for people, particularly with an anime-like style, that are willing and available to stay on long-term. Backgrounds will include scenes such as typical school-backgrounds, magical kingdom scenes, dark forests and castles, etc. Anyone auditioning should be comfortable with fantasy-style artwork. I am also ideally looking for DIGITAL 2D artists for these roles, especially those who work with vector art.
The Project itself is currently subject to an NDA, but what I am able to say about it so far is that it is a 2D action/adventure musical series, with the hopes of spanning 2 seasons in full.
Typical workflow for Background/Prop Artists for each background will include being sent a few reference images, being sent the animated scene (to understand where characters will be spatially in the scene and what aspects of the background they will be interacting with), a briefing on the purpose of the scene and mood, and a rough sketch of the desired final background. Artists should be able to assemble all information to create a fitting final piece. Must also be open to completing revisions. Deadlines will be assessed on a per project basis, as artists' personal estimation of time needed based on the requirements will be one of the main determining factors. Artists will always get a say in deadlines. Prop artists will be briefed along with background artists, but will not begin work on a scene until background art is first completed.

Requirements:
- Good work ethic!
- Come prepared to collaborate; communication amongst team members is critical.
- Have a Discord: this will be our primary means of communication. And please be somewhat active on it! (Please provide your Discord in application)
- Have a PayPal, as this is where payment will be administered.
- MUST SIGN AN NDA PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK, therefore, anyone trying out must be at least 18 or older, OR have permission from a parent/guardian. *The NDA is unnegotiable and must be signed before anyone can officially be accepted to the team, so please try out only if you are confident you could fulfill this requirement.*
Delivery Expectations per Project:
- High-quality artwork which should be rendered in 4K resolution.
- Source file may sometimes be requested.
- In some cases, for backgrounds specifically, they may need to be delivered in "pieces," meaning that it may be necessary to send just a png of elements in the image that are towards the front of the image and send elements behind them separately. This is necessary for when it is needed to make the background appear as though it is a moving one.
What to expect if hired:
- Rachel will reach out to you through Discord.
- NDA will be sent for you to print out, complete, and photocopy to return to Rachel.
- Rachel will brief you on the cartoon; you will have a period of learning the show's story, characters, and art design before being given any official assignments.
- Our main priority is on promotional material for our series and preparing to hire on our voice actors in summer.

Role requires taking the scripts and translating them into tentative scenes/shots for animators. Story boarders should make it a point to understand the story holistically to make sure all necessary elements of a scene are present and shots progress in a manner that makes sense.

Looking for someone to work alongside me to direct the project. Must be proficient with creating schedules, assessing budgets, leading a team, and overall, just making sure production is on track and running smoothly. You must be willing to attend and assist in leading meetings and schedule them with the cast/crew when it is necessary.

EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE: Since I am a first-time director, I am looking for someone who has seen a whole production through of some nature and knows how to get a project from start to finish.
You also must be willing to become proficient in the project itself; you will need to learn the story and plan for our series.

For this role, the artist will be responsible for creating posters/flyers/social media artwork to advertise our series and gain interest in it. MUST BE ABLE TO REPLICATE SERIES ART STYLE. Background artists will handle background art where it is necessary, so unless applying for this position and also offering background work, you may only be resposible for character artwork itself. You should be able to create different expressions/body movements that are accurate for each character based on their personality and role in the story.
Must collaborate with our me and our Social Media Manager to determine a plan for artworks best suited to advertise the series without going into spoiler territory.

Since we are a musical series, I am looking for someone to come on, learn about our series and story, and help us write songs for it. Ideally, I am looking for someone who can both songwrite AND demo the songs. SHOULD BE FAMILIAR AND CAPABLE OF DOING POP/ROCK SONGS IN PARTICULAR.
Anyone trying out should leave a demo below of a song you have written and recorded. PLEASE ENSURE THE SONG HAS NO SWEARS.
You CAN TRY OUT FOR THESE ROLES SEPARATELY; ie, if you are only interested in the songwriting, or if you are only interested in singing our demos.

This series is a musical series, particularly in the pop/rock genre, however, our background tracks will likely span beyond these genres. We are creating promotional material for the series right now which will need backing tracks--applicants who have experience with a wide variety of musical genres are ideal for this position. Should be able to create compelling and emotionally engaging tracks to draw viewers in to our project, that simulteounsly help viewers get a feel for our story's world and characters.

Looking for animators proficient in PUPPET ANIMATION, and familiar with rotoscoping. Should be able to create to create SMOOTH animations to match the series animation style (if you would like an example, please dm me and I can send you something not subject to NDA). Must take both storyboards and rotoscopes to create fitting animations. Must also learn each of the character's and their personalities to understand how they would move and interact with other characters/environments/objects. SOME EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED FOR THIS ROLE. Must be willing to take revisions!

Looking for someone who can take references and descriptions of a character and make a fitting design for them. Must be comfortable drawing different body types and making sure the designs fit the personality of the character.

Looking for someone to come on board and learn about all of our characters and work with me to determine what type of voice we should seek out for them when we begin casting. Will be in charge of helping create our casting call page in May and will be involved in our Discord servers to help people audition, give feedback on auditions, and host callbacks. Will also help to get the word out about our casting calls.
SHOULD HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH CASTING A PROJECT. During casting, must be able and willing to be active on our casting call page to give constructive feedback to those trying out.
After casting, will be in charge of attending table readings and helping give direction to voice actors on how to best execute a scene. Will help voice actors refine their final lines as they turn them in by givIng construtive criticism.

Will be responsible for creating sketches and colored concepts of environments, flora/fauna, and objects in our story's world. Will need to have a basic grasp on our art style, understand its mood, people and world, and the purpose of the environments/objects/flora-fauna's role in the story to create the most accurate depictions of what these things might realistically look like. Must be able to answer questions about your work to assist background artists with incorporating your work into fully realized scenes.

Will also be responsible for helping us create advertising strategies to get our name out there.

Be able to offer constructive criticism to help artists match our style and vision for the project. Looking to add a few additional writers to our existing team of writers--would be responsible for writing our first season worth of scripts. Will be required to provide weekly updates (AT A MINIMUM) to prove progress. Must be willing to take revisions and modify scripts accordingly.
Will be required to attend writer's room voice chats to discuss each episode before it gets written and must remain in contact with me on script progress.

You would be in charge of coming up with product concepts and seeking out ways for us to manufacture those products to have prepared for a Kickstarter campaign.

With this role, you will be responsible for taking a character design and making reference material for our artists and animators so that they understand what that character looks like in 3D space. Each character will require a full front, 3/4 front, profile, 3/4 back, and full back position done for them. ANYONE TRYING OUT MUST ALSO BE COMFORTABLE LEARNING TO REPLICATE OUR SERIES ART STYLE, as style will need to be very well executed for these assignments.
