Project STELLAR (2)

Project Overview

Siblings Mike and Marie King are fresh out of school, ready for summer. However, their plans change when they quickly discover that they might not be alone in the universe - or even in their very neighborhood. Join them as they set out to uncover one of Earth's most well-kept secrets.

Welcome to Project STELLAR!

We're back again, as promised, to bring in new characters! Season 1 is under way, but feel free to check out our three-part prologue if you'd like a taste of this wondrous world. Please read through the instructions carefully, even if you have tried out before. Some things are a little different.

If you’re cast:

-This is an unpaid project. We’re doing this to have fun. Enjoy yourselves.

-Please have Skype! Rehearsals will be held over Skype.

-The rehearsal times are determined by you, the actors. When you see that you’ll have free time, we'll set up a time to work.

-Rehearsals will be recorded for your benefit, as well as for editing purposes. It lets me get a feel for the timing of the lines.

-There isn’t a deadline for rehearsals, only for getting your lines in.

Regarding Auditions:

-Audition for as many characters as you like. This is recommended so we can hear the extent of your vocal range/emotion.

-Please submit clean recordings. That means use noise removal. Also, please have as little room reverb as possible. While we can correct the background noise (not that we should have to), we can't get rid of that pesky echo!

-Please make sure that your microphone can handle loud sounds/effort noises. Yelling, grunting, etc.

-There is adult language used, but if you are cast and are uncomfortable with it, we will adjust accordingly.

-Multiple takes are welcome - especially for Various Voices.

-All accents welcome - especially for Various Voices.

-Please use your natural voice for the first take. Don't play the "character", play the person. If you want to do something outside the box, that's fine, but let us hear you first.

-Regarding Various Voices: please demonstrate a wide range of character voices.

-You will be considered for roles that you did not audition for.

Note that these are not the characters' real names; also, descriptions are sparser than last time because we need to keep a tighter wrap on the details, even thought this is an open, public audition. The less spoilers, the better!

You can drop your auditions here, or send them to [redacted]. Just put each audition in a separate mp3 or WAV file and label them as YourName_CharacterName.

Don’t hesitate to email us if you have any questions. We will respond in a timely manner. And check us out at razethecurtain.tumblr.com in the meantime, good luck!

UPDATE 8/6/16: Thank you to all who auditioned! We will be making our selections and sending out emails/messages within the next week and a half, so please keep an eye out. Only those who are cast will receive a notification. The cast list will be posted by August 12th.

If you are not cast, this is not the end. We will be holding auditions for new characters as the series progresses, and we encourage you to audition again when the time comes!

Hispanic-American. Mid-twenties. He loves his job, and he’s good at it. Always goes by the book, and is easily riled up if you know how to push his buttons.

  • You are in no position to demand anything. Now, I’m going to ask you a series of questions, and you will answer them truthfully, to the best of your ability. If you don’t…well. That’s when I call my partner in. And I’m the good cop in this duo, believe me.

  • You found a what? No, you should most certainly not try to hide it, you idiots! Don’t even touch it! What the hell is wrong with you – how did you even get this number? You know what, I don’t care, stay put, I’m coming to you, what’s your location?

  • Well, let’s see. Your final time on the obstacle course doesn’t even come close to the requirement we set for incoming cadets, you charged headfirst into the lockdown test without thinking, you barely hit the targets at the gun range, and I won’t even mention how many times you failed the flight simulation…what, are you waiting for me to say you miraculously passed? Get your ass back in there and do it again. All of it.

  • Oh, child, if only you knew. I have seen things beyond the vast reaches of your worlds which you could not come close to comprehending. Terrible, but beautiful things. And I know you would never be able to understand why they are beautiful, but I see the core of the very dust you breathe and I tell you that every speck is beautiful.

  • I see that you’ve completely disregarded the memo I sent out this morning. Did you not receive it? What a shame. Well. If you had received it, you would know that this unit is suspended until further notice. As for why, you need only look back on your performance over the past few weeks. The answer should be obvious. Now move. You’re in my seat.

  • You said that you owed me, and now it is time to pay that debt in full. I am about to ask something of you, and you must not question it. You must not try to negotiate with me, or help me. This is the only way you can help me. Please. Promise me…thank you. Now take this, and run.

French. Late twenties. Less wound up than her partner, Diego, but will submit to the rule book if you throw it at her. A really good shot. (French accent preferred, but not required.)

  • Well, la-di-da, look what we have here. A couple of snot-nosed brats who can’t seem to stay out of other people’s business. You know, I heard in one of our mandatory seminars that we have to be cordial in our dealings with civilians, but in case you can’t tell, I really, really don’t like civilians.

  • I didn’t ask to be assigned to this case, and I definitely didn’t ask to babysit. They’re your problem, not mine, so suck it up, call them back, and just…I don’t know, breathe through it or whatever you’re supposed to do. Break a few windows. That always helps.

  • Kid, there will always be cases like this. Cases that make your stomach churn, make you taste something foul. Cases that make the shadows crawl at night. That’s why you need to find that thing that keeps you sane. For him, it’s paperwork. For me, it’s the gym. For you…well, you need to find yours, and find it fast if you intend to keep up with us.

  • I never should have looked back. I should have left you where you fell. Do you know why I saved you? Because I thought you’d be useful. And you were, for a time. But look at you now. Playing house on a planet that isn’t even worth collecting. Now I see where I went wrong. I made you believe that to look beyond what we know and have was acceptable. And I ruined you.

  • Uh, maybe you all should back up. I’ll give it my best shot, but no promises, okay? I’m kinda new to this. Like, three hours new. Like, I think I might blow you to bits if I sneeze new – really? You’re gonna sass me right here, right now? While I’m like this? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Maybe you can try that on a day when I have complete control over this…ability.

  • Listen, lady, I have been running diagnostics day in and out for the past week in order to prep for this – and I just ran three weapons checks back to back because Captain D-Bag told me to – and I’m pretty sure that I’ve caught a virus with that last simulation I had to debug. So when I ask if you tried turning the device off and on, no, I am not joking.

A doctor who seeks to know more in order to do more. Means well when trying to help in areas that don’t involve medical expertise, but sometimes falls short in giving good advice. It’s because of a cultural gap, everyone assumes. Or a species gap.

  • It’s merely a mild case of Galavantian Flu. He’ll be fine. Symptoms? Stomach cramps, muscle spasms, random periods of vomiting, peeling skin, dry eye, nose bleeds…of course I’m sure it’s a mild case. Why do you ask?

  • You have dared to insinuate that I don’t know which side I’m on. Know that I would not be here if I did not believe in this organization and its cause. Also know that I am a being of science and medicine, and my first duty is to my patients, no matter their species or their misdeeds. You have ordered me to ignore my duty, and I have refused. You will not order me again, because if you do, you will force my hand. Do not force my hand.

  • Please don’t put me in a position to lie to the agents. You do realize that I need to work very closely with them, don’t you? If we find ourselves at odds, my job becomes very difficult. I’ve experienced it before with former teams. The Jakalanish Incident of ’98 was very unpleasant. And very cold.

A good-natured psychology major who believes in trying everything at least once. Running back for the football team, and a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast.

  • I know, it’s a little overwhelming, right? But that’s family. Nice to meet you. I’m Ben, from the groom’s side. All you need to know is that Melissa’s scoping for a man, Jacob will always try to sneak food off your plate, and Grandma Sadie will get you to spill your life story if you sit too close. Oh, and watch out for Jake’s little brother, Jamie. Kid’s got sticky fingers. He gives you any trouble, just get his mom, but don’t let him know it was you who snitched. His revenge gets a little…messy.

  • So…getting kidnapped is a regular occurrence for you then? Because, you know, if it is, that’s great. Or not? I have mixed feelings on the matter. It’s great because you know what you’re doing. It’s not because I have finals to study for, so when are we getting rescued?

  • Angry doesn't even begin to describe what I'm feeling. How could you keep this from me? A little honesty goes a long way, or did you not learn that growing up? If I were anyone else, I’d understand why you did it. But I’m me, and you’re you, and this thing between us exists and you completely disregarded it – and for what? Some secret you thought I was better off not knowing? Don’t – don’t touch me. Just…don’t. I’m going for a walk.
