Pills and Pickaxes Trailer

Project Overview

IMPORTANT NOTE

This is going to start out as a trailer, but may possible become an audiobook in the future. It is up to how much I and the actors are enjoying it.

About the story:

Some people are dead, but they're still hanging around. One of those people is Mara Williams. No one has ever survived more than a week there, much less 2 days. Lilith, Mara's best friend, decides to see if she is up to the test when they check in for a month. Is this all her own deluision or has she put herself in danger like no other?

---

Rules:

1. Have a clear mic. No background noise, no static, no voices, no fans, no heaters, no lawnmowers, no rabid cats, etc.

2. Use emotion.

3. Do 2-3 takes for each line. If you don't do multiple takes, you WILL NOT be considered!

4. Upload your audition to casting call club

5. NO FACE AUDITIONS. I will immediately dismiss your audition if I can see your face. I want AUDIO FILES ONLY. No camera, no video of your ceiling, etc.

Please be sure you are comfortable with cursing, crying, screaming, and adult humor when recording!

Latest Updates

  • Everyone has been casted!

Hey guys! Everyone has now been casted, so I'll probably have your lines out by Friday. I'm thinking of doing a lot of work over Google Drive/Docs/etc. and possibly using Skype. It depends on how comfortable you all feel with that, and if you don't want to do that, let me know and we'll just work over Casting Call Club. I'll be sending out messages to everyone who was casted about this tomorrow in case you don't see this update.

  • An apology, the casting, and a thank you!

Hey everyone, sorry for the long wait on the cast! Not only do I blame my indecisiveness, but also my insane schedule with school and visiting my grandparents. They literally wouldn't let me do any homework, so for the past few days I've been trying to catch up on everything. Anyways, the cast will be going up tonight, and I've already cast Mara! If you didn't get a role, know that it doesn't mean you are a bad voice actor/actress, you may just not have repeated the lines like I asked or had a lower quality of a mic. I'm so happy with all the amazing people who auditioned and want to thank you all so much!

  • Thank you so much!!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to pick all the final actors and get out scripts soon! I'll be picking the actors over the weekend, so do stay tuned! :D

Becca is sassy and often rude. She tries to help Mara through death, but does it in a more blunt way than Adrian, who is her best friend. She died in a very horrible way, she was murdered there, so she has less optimistic views about her life after death.

  • It's not worth trying, kid. You'll fall in love and he'll be completely oblivious.

  • Honey, welcome to the world of the dead. Yeah, it sucks, I know.

Lilith should have a med-high pitch voice with a North American or English accent. She used to be very protective, sassy and impulsive. After Mara's death though, she has gone insane and can't tell the difference between reality and her own thoughts. Lilith is the main character of the story and it's told from Lilith's point of view.

  • My best friend died back there! I'm not going to sit around and wait for things to just pass by!

  • (Sounds pyschotic) You can't take me away! You have to catch me before you can lock me up!

  • Mara may be dead, but she isn't gone. I saw her! She spoke to me, I know she's there!

I'd prefer her to have an English or North American accent with a medium-high range. Her voice should be a bit distant, maybe even raspy when you say the lines as a ghost. I want someone who is able to convey sadness, despair, and confusion very well since the way she died was murder and she also had a very, very hard past.

  • (Scared, worried) W-where am I? Who are you? Where's Lilith? Just... just get away from me!

  • Make them stop! Get the voices out of my head! Stop, just please!

  • (Sobbing) No! Leave me alone!

Adrian should have a welcoming and warm voice at about a medium pitch. He is the main ghost in the story and helps Mara through all her challenges. He is one of the kind ghosts and keeps the negative spirits away from Lilah and Becca.

  • It's okay, don't worry. You'll be safe here.

  • Stay away from any of the living people here. If they see you, they're going to be scared, you have some pretty bad scars that we can't really clean up.
