Peter Parker: Spider-Man

Peter Parker: Spider-Man

Project Overview

This project will be conceived as an animated feature film that mostly adapts The Amazing Spider-Man comic books from the early to mid 1960s by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr.  The film is going to be a cross genre of drama and action that’s mainly based around the drama of Peter Parker’s personal life while still focusing heavily on his adventures as Spider-Man. Me and my crew have joined Casting Call Club in hopes of recruiting talented voice actors and actresses who have what it takes to properly portray the characters in order to bring an all new adventure from the world of Peter Parker/Spider-Man to life.

  • Final Round Of Auditions!

As production draws closer, we've begun to open more technical roles and a few newer characters as well. Good luck!
  • Major Change

Update: While working on this project with my screenwriter, something just wasn't sitting right with us with the villains. They weren't contributing to the theme and they didn't necessarily have the cinematic scale we needed them to have. That is why I am announcing that the characters of Sandman, Vulture, Mysterio, Kraven, and Electro are being removed from the script and the casting call for the place of a new revamped version of a classic Spidey villain who will serve this story and tie into its themes much better than a team of comical supervillains. That villain is going to be none other than Mac Gargan. Also known as, "The Scorpion".

Peter Parker/Spider-Man is obviously the most important role to me and my crew when it comes to casting. We’re looking for someone who can capture the awkward,  shy,  somewhat charming, and sincere nature of Peter Parker while on the other hand being able to have the upbeat, energetic, and witty nature of Spider-Man. For the voice itself, we’ve envisioned a voice that’s at a similar pitch to the voice of the Spider-Man portrayed by Christopher Daniel Barnes, but we’re still possibly open to anything.

  • “If it isn’t my pal, Electro! How was the slammer? I heard the food is much better.”

  • “I’d love to move into the place, Harry, but my Aunt May isn’t doing too well financially right now. I think I should stick around and help her out some.”

  • “I’m sorry about not showing, Gwen.....I left my stuff at the bugle and they close at six.

For Sandman, my crew I are open to any kind of interpretation, but we'd like a gritty standard criminal/gangster type voice with maybe even a slight New York accent. Good luck to all auditioners!

  • "Hahaha! There's no way you're getting outta this one!"

  • "Eh, Toomes?! I could use a hand right now!"

  • "Why should we listen to the guy with the octopus arms?"

For Mysterio, we're open to literally anything. Just something that can be theatrical.

  • "I expected you to follow me, Spider-Man. That is why I prepared for your arrival..."

For Vulture, the crew and I would look a crazy somewhat old man sounding voice, but if you have something in mind that you feel could work, send it over!

Harry Osborn has been played many different ways by many different people. In this story we see Harry going back to the typical cool and rich college kid from his early appearances in the comic books. For the voice, we're looking for someone who can portray the laid back cool college student type guy.

  • "Hey, guys. I'd like to introduce you all to my good friend, Peter Parker."

  • "Easy there, Gwen. Spidey is Pete's main source of income. He takes pictures of the guy for the Daily Bugle."

  • "Wait. Are you sure? Why don't you stick around for a bit longer?"

This interpretation of Gwen Stacy is closer to the original comic book character than any previous adaptation. She's a college student with a science major who slowly grows affectionate towards Peter. We're not looking for anything specific in this voice, so feel free to try whatever you want!

  • "I'm not really up to much. Just working weekends at Horizon Tech...as a lady up front."

  • "Spider-Man here, Spider-Man there. The guy's a nutcase in tights. Why can't people see that? "

  • "Peter, listen. If there's somewhere else you'd rather be right now, that's okay. Just please tell me."

For Captain Stacy, Gwen's father, I see him as a police captain who's seen the worst of New York, but he still maintains a good heart. Visually and vocally, I see him somewhat along the lines of Clint Eastwood, but not as gritty and a little more friendly sounding. So I hope that gives a good idea of what we're looking for when it comes to George with auditions. Good luck!

  • "Good to see you, Peter. Glad you could stop by."

  • "See you two later. Just don't have her back too late, Pete! Haha."

  • "I don't believe a word Jameson says about you, Spider-Man. I've seen the worst this city has to offer. I know a menace when I see one."

My crew and I are desperately searching for a composer who can write and compose an emotionally rich and epic score for this project. Specifically, we need a composer who can write heartfelt and sincere themes for Peter Parker while still being able to write exiting themes for Spider-Man and his crime-fighting adventures. I personally believe that the soundtrack/score adds a voice to the film and its story.

Aunt May is one of the key players when it comes to this story. She's not incredibly old like her original comic counterpart, but she's considerably quite a bit older than the Sally Field and Marissa Tomei portrayals of the characters, but not quite as old as the excellent Rosemary Harris version of the character. Young or old, we'd like someone who can provide a sweet and sincere voice for Aunt May that can convincingly sound like it's coming out of the mouth of an older woman. Good luck!

To make this clear, this Ned Leeds is based on his comic counterpart and not the Ned character from Spider-Man Homecoming and Far From Home. This Ned is a reporter for the Daily Bugle. There isn't anything overly complex about his character. He's loyal to Jameson while still sticking up for Peter here and there.

  • "Hey, Betty. Where's Jameson at? I need to talk to him. Max Dillon's holding up an armored car downtown."

Mary Alice Anders will have a major supporting role in this story as she is the love interest for Otto Octavius, the main antagonist. She will be the driving force/motivation for Otto's actions and the result of his encounters with Spider-Man throughout the film. Otto is in his late forties and Mary is in her mid-thirties. The character has never been adapted before so the possibilities are endless.

With very careful consideration, we chose to replace the Sinister Six with The Scorpion as a way to have a more complex antagonist and allow the screenplay to be less bloated. Gargan in this story is quite different in comparison to his comic book counterpart.  The Scorpion/Gargan is part of a fully-funded government program to deploy a developed superhero into New York City to work directly on the side of the law rather than as a vigilante like Spider-Man, which causes Scorpion to tangle with Spidey later on in the film due to Spider-Man being seen as a menace by the people of New York. That's where things get interesting. Gargan is going to be a reflection of Peter in this story. He's pushed around by other people during his time as the Scorpion to the point in the second act where he snaps and descents into villainy and a strong adversary for Spider-Man.  W

  • "Stand down, Spider-Man! Don't make things harder than they already are!"

  • "Maybe this city doesn't deserve saving...Maybe it's just a once-great city that's filled with nothing, but scum.  If a few need to die so the majority can learn a lesson, that's okay. Because that's what this city needs!"

I've considered including the iconic redhead in this project for some time. It's just I could never find the right way to do it with the story we were telling, but with recent screenplay revisions and going back to the drawing board with some aspects, we now know feel the need to include MJ in our gallery of classic Spider-Man characters. Mary Jane in this project is closest to her early appearances in the issues by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr of which this film is based upon. In those issues, Mary Jane was the charismatic, witty delightful, energetic, and show stealing party girl who occasionally would show her true colors when faced with serious situations, which is exactly what we're going for.

  • "Oh, Petey. Wherever Mary Jane goes, the party goes, too."

  • "Come on, Tiger. Can't this thing go any faster? We're not getting any younger, that's for sure."

  • "Face it, Tiger. You just hit the jackpot."

Oh, yeah. Spidey's most iconic adversary has joined the roster. For the longest time while working on this screenplay, we needed a foe larger than Scorpion who had a connection of sorts to Peter Parker/Spider-Man aside from being a criminal that Spider-Man simply gets in the way of, like a lot of his enemies throughout the comic books, but now we're adapting the Goblin like no other. Here, we'll heavily emphasize the Jekyll/Hyde dynamic with Norman's two personas. One as a stern businessman who doesn't take no for an answer. And another who is a costumed supervillain who creates nothing but terror for the good people of New York, but there is one similarity. Both desire the suffering and torment of our hero, Peter Parker. To further demonstrate the contrast between the two personalities of Osborn, my crew and I are casting two different actors for Norman and Goblin. For Goblin's voice, we're looking for a voice that's creepy and intimidating. I personally see a mix of Supreme Leader Snoke and the Goblin portrayed by Steve Blum in The Spectacular Spider-Man Animated Series.

  • "Soon you'll be free, Norman...We just need to make Parker suffer a little more...It's only a matter of time.

  • "Take a good look, Parker. This is going to be the last face you ever see! Hahahaha!"

  • "I'm surprised, Spider-Man. It looks as if you don't even know the extent of your powers. Maybe it's time I teach you!"

With the beginning production near, My crew and I are in search of someone with prior experience in filmmaking and editing who is capable of seaming together this series, thus bringing the Web-Head to life. Being the editor of this project will be a very collaborative role. Editing in animation differs from live-action due to the fact that animation is more planned, not providing that of different takes and coverage. We'd also prefer that you're fond of the Spider-Man character.

If interested, We'd like to see your previous works as a video editor and we'd want to know what video editing software you use.

Joe Robertson is a high ranking editor at the Daily Bugle and a close friend of J. Jonah Jameson. Robbie often brainstorms with Jameson about what's to appear on the front page merely minutes before the deadline, often causing banter between the two. Adrian Toomes / The Vulture (Revised)

The reason why we're opening a separate Vulture role is due to the fact the character in the series has been reinvented from what we originally intended him to be. Initially, Vulture was going to appear as a side villain, nothing other than a cranky old man in a bird suit, but as writing continued, as the director, I felt a more narratively involved and comic accurate Vulture would serve this story perfectly. Peter Parker is a young man in his prime, who's blossoming in his relationships while the Vulture is someone who's golden years are far behind him and who has rejected any means of companionship or relationships. Unlike other Spider-Man villains, The Vulture is aware of the fact he's no saint and he embraces his lack of compassion. For the voice, We're looking for a voice that suits a pathetic old man without any means of remorse, a man who has never been shown any warmth throughout his entire life.

  • "I'm no saint, and I never wanted to be one. I'm exactly what people call me...A Vulture. I'm not proud or ashamed of it. I've just done what I've had to...to survive.
