New World Adventures (Jamros Recast)

New World Adventures (Jamros Recast)

Project Overview

Get a free paperback copy of the completed work mailed to any address of your choosing, world wide. All you gotta do is win this audition.

This project is almost finished, but we have a voice actor who is unable to deliver lines that require him to yell, and the line "all clear?" must be delivered at the loudest volume your lungs can handle. (With the mic sensitivity way down for that line, obviously.)

I take full responsibility, as some actors simply don't have recording locations that allow them to yell, and it was my job to check that during audition. If you are one such actor, I'm sorry, this part is not for you.

The setting is high magic fantasy, so picture Lord of the Rings, or Dungeons and Dragons, and you've pretty much got the right idea.

Latest Updates

  • Change in direction

I know, radio silence, you all thought I had given up. I haven't. There has just been a change in direction as it's slowly starting to sink in that I will never see a cent out of this project. My quest for fame and fortune has hit failure after failure after failure. So, if I can't get any fortune, I'd at least like to try for fame. I have deleted the previous property rights rant at the end of episode 1. Episode 2 is now freely available to the world! Episodes 3 and 4 are also still in production. Also, Episodes 1-5 will soon be made available. I will not be creating an audiobook of episode 5, but at least you'll find out what happens next in the story. Expect it tomorrow. As for the timeline on everything else, expect my slow and steady pace to continue. You know the old "cheap-good-fast, pick two"? Well, I started going good-fast but now I'm going cheap-good. This project will still get finished, but feeding my family comes first. Here are the links for the first two episodes, so share the hell out of them: https://soundcloud.com/jonathon-philip-chambers/new-world-adventures-episode-1 https://soundcloud.com/jonathon-philip-chambers/new-world-adventures-episode-2 One last thing... everyone, just reach out to me. It's very lonely and depressing editing audio for hours on end, but even a smiley face emoji can really cheer me up, letting me know someone out there is actually reading my posts and/or listening to my work. This will happen. I promise you all. It just might not happen this year.
  • Episode 1 is live

Here is the link, to where you can download the file or listen to it streamed live. http://tabletopfiction.net/promoted-products.html (More compressed versions of that file are coming soon, but message me directly if you want a compressed version now.) The success of this project will be influenced by the reach of that link, so share it, make it go viral, put it everywhere, show everyone. It's under an attribution license, and the attribution is already inside the audio itself, so almost anything you could think of doing with it doesn't count as piracy. The other episodes are still coming. You can't rush art.
  • Episode 1 test screening

For those of you still not following my main project, please do, (www.castingcall.club/projects/new-world-adventures) and also, here is the test screening of episode 1. You've got one week to show all your family and friends to get feedback on how it can be improved before I release it. Yes, you can put it on your facebook wall, but don't encourage people to share this one. Let them know that a superior version is coming next week that they SHOULD share. https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ap4vkK0n_GJBnjjbCbhoT5G_CjAk

I only need the underlined words. These will be the complete part, so if your work is perfect, you're done. No more recording required. If you're not quite perfect, but better than everyone else's, I'll cast you, then tell you what you need to correct, then you're done.

Erdan, emphasis is on the "dan" (like guitar, emphasis is on the "tar"). Also, "dan" should be said "darn" or "dah-n" It's an "ah" sound. (Erdan responds to "Erdarn" and "Erdahn", and both very similar pronunciations are present in the book.)

Pieter, Pie-ter. (It rhymes with "lighter")

Darrak, the "ak" rhymes with "hack" (rhymes with "barracks")

  • Jamros,
Duncheth’s gatekeeper, was always pleased to see people he recognised. He
strove to remember as many faces as possible.

    “Alek, Darrak, Erdan,” Jamros’s heavy
armour squeaked as he waved to them, “Congratulations. I see you have an
    escort.”

    “I beg your pardon!” said
Gwenevere. She felt she had dressed quite conservatively.

“We are not her escort,” Alek
turned to Gwenevere, “He believes you paid us to escort you on your travels.
‘Tis a very easy and well-paying job, but difficult to obtain.”

    “Oh,” said Gwenevere, “well if
anyone requires an escort, I am certain we would keep them safe!”

“If they only require an escort
for fifteen miles up Windy Hill road,” added Alek, almost sarcastically.

    Jamros smiled. “Ah, you travel
    to visit Pieter?”

    “How did you…?” Alek caught
himself, “I suppose you know everyone who exists.”

    “Over two thousand exist in
Duncheth alone. I thank the gods that so few have any desire to leave these
walls or my days would be very busy. I learn what I can.”

    “Then learn this,” Alek pointed
an open hand at Gwenevere, “This is my wife Gwenevere. She shall be travelling
with us. I can vouch for her character.”

    “People of any character may
exit,” said Jamros, “and, if they did so willingly, may even return again.”

    Darrak and Erdan chuckled at
Alek’s error. Alek tried to smile and take it in good humour.

    “Forgive me Jamros. I forgot
which side of the gate I stand. I mean to say, remember my wife’s face, for she
shall be arriving back with us tomorrow morning.”

    “Or perhaps late tonight even,”
    said Gwenevere.

    “Sunset, the gate locks, ma’am”
said Jamros, “Sunrise, I return for duty.”

    “Definitely tomorrow,” Alek
turned to Gwenevere, “Tomorrow without a doubt.”

    Jamros called “All clear?” to
one of the guards on top of the wall.

The guard stood up, searched the
horizon for danger, and then called, “All clear!”

Upon hearing this, Jamros ran to
turn a wheel, opening the giant wooden gates to the outside world. By the time
they were out, the gate was already closing.
