Mr. Widemouth

Mr. Widemouth

Project Overview

I'm making a live-action feature-length no-budget movie adaptation of the Creepypasta "Mr. Widemouth."

For those unfamiliar with the story, it's about a young boy who is bedridden when he gets mono and meets a creature named Mr. Widemouth. Mr. Widemouth tries to get the boy to engage in risky behavior (like jumping out of a window and juggling knives), but the boy always refuses. When the boy is allowed to walk around, Mr. Widemouth shows the boy a deer path and promises to take him down that path one day. The family moves away, and the last the boy sees of Mr. Widemouth is when he sees him waving from the bedroom window. Years later, the boy comes back to the property and sees that the house had burned down. He follows the path Mr. Widemouth showed him, and it led to a cemetery filled with the graves of young children.

Mr. Widemouth's voice should be non-threatening, not so scary that any interaction with the child seems unrealistic, and not so cute or friendly that it distracts from the seriousness of the story.

  • Hello, my child. No, you're not dreaming; I'm really here.

  • I can assure you it's completely safe. I always like to play pretend like this.

  • I've had a lot of friends your age. When they were ready, I took them down this path to a special place. You aren't ready yet, but one day, I hope to take you there.
