Saffron is Rose's love interest. They're both friends from school. Saffron actually also has feelings for Rose, but she's more of a 'show rather than tell' person. She's very cool and chill, and patient. She's willing to wait for Rose to come to terms with her own feelings, so during the film, Saffron already knows about Rose's crush on her.

Rose decides to play a carnival game (it's the kind where you see how hard you can hit with a hammer) because she wants to win the prize for Saffron. When she tries though, she does really poorly, and embarrasses herself in front a crowd and Saffron. When the game operator hands Rose her prize, it's so tiny and bad that she gets embarrassed about that as well, and runs away from Saffron.
