Male VA's Needed for Animatic/Christmas Gift

Male VA's Needed for Animatic/Christmas Gift

Project Overview

Hey there everyone, I'm back and have returned with a project quite similar to last year's! Christmas will be around before we know it, so I wanted to jump into the game early and give a girl that's quite near and dear to my heart, another special gift.

I don't know if any of you have ever been part of a roleplay group, but I help manage quite a few and it's through groups like this that my best friend and I were able to make characters that we not only love, but also ship together like a couple of shameful fangirls. We've drawn them together, roleplayed them together, and I've even made a few music themed animatics.

However, I've always longed to add that extra something- something that would really make our characters feel as alive as we wish them to be. And that's when I decided to make our little dream come true once again; I want to find VA's on here that are willing to give our characters a voice! The best part? She doesn't know that I'm planning on writing a script and getting this animatic underway once more, it's gonna be a big surprise! So, if there are any guys comfortable enough to voice out the script I'm working on, please do give this a shot and do your best! This girl means everything to me and she deserves a unique gift with a lot of heart!

Thank you and happy holidays to all who do and don't celebrate~!

I'm so sorry for not responding to some of your auditions, every single one of you did great! I just didn't have the time to give some auditions feedback, what with me being sick and my computer breaking on me. But that's all been handled, what matters now is that the audition is over and the roles have finally been cast! So congratulations to senpaifruit and kuyalaw, you two will be playing the roles of Dulce and Archi in my animatic! I already have the script written out and will personally be messaging both of you to ensure that each of you has my email. Once I can confirm that, I will send you the google doc with everything you'll need. As for everyone else, thank you so much for your effort and generosity. A lot of you are super talented and it warms my heart to see so many people try out on a project that's probably pretty small in the grand scheme of things. Its a fine reflection of your kindness. On that note, I hope all you kind people have successful futures and (its a little early, but-) happy holidays!

Age: 21

Species: Cotton Candy

Full appearance can be supplied if needed.

Personality:

  • Flirty || Flamboyant || Fabulous || Feisty

This cute candy may look pretty sweet, but he can be quite the trouble maker, not to mention an exceptional flirt. People often look at the way he dresses and expect someone dainty, polite, and easy to manipulate, but Dulce is no pushover; he's the type that isn't afraid to take what he wants, when he wants it. With such a fierce sense of independence, Dulce wont ever allow people to try doing things for him just because he looks fragile. Him, fragile? HA, far from it! In fact, he's pretty damn feisty and you'd be smart not to get on his bad side. When this sassy darling gets angry, he can get pretty irrational and the results aren't something to look forward to.

**If you really need more to get into the mind of this character, he's a stylist at a salon, he owns an adorable cotton candy poodle that he loves to pieces, addicted to sweets, as sassy as the day is long, and he's got a bit of a dark history involving abusive boyfriends, so getting real isn't outside the realm of possibility for this otherwise silly boy.
Can ask more questions involving him if it'll help you!

Voice:
Dulce is a character with a lot of flare, he isn't one for stereotyping, but even he has to admit that he fits the gay mold pretty well. Doesn't sport a strong lisp, so his voice isn't something so generic, but it's the kind of voice that can radiate an almost jazzy sort of excitement when he's happy, a suave, sensual smoothness when he's getting flirty, and a strong sense of hurt when he does allow himself to get serious and open up.

It's not particularly feminine, but he also doesn't sport anything too deep. It's boyish, it's got youth to it. Good examples would be the English voices of Takashi Kosuda from Yamada's First Time/B Gata H Kei, Sai from Naruto Shippuden, Yuga Aoyama from My Hero Academia (Probably one of the better examples with the way his similar/fabulous personality resonates from his speech),  and Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club (Also a good example with personality and speech pattern).
Each of these characters have very male sounding English voices, but they also aren't too deep, too shallow. They have personality, they have a good pitch, they sound more like their age rather than sounding like a grown man. And each of these characters, save for Sai, is very expressive.

I've never placed too strict a voice on Dulce because it's so hard to get right, so there is a level of interpretation to be allowed here. But of course I'm still going to go for the one that fits him best, whichever feels most 'Dulce' to me. He is my character, so I will probably be picky.

Requirements:

- Clear audio, make sure you don't have a lot of background noise, be mindful of mouth sounds/lip smacking, and remember, diction is important, don't slur your words.
-Must be able to convey a fair range of emotion (happiness, sadness, and anger). I'm not entirely sure what direction my script will go in, but I'm thinking of something a little more serious. Either way, you need to really sell whatever it is you're reading, goes without saying.
-Having a Skype would be preferred. Will keep communication there or through email if you prefer.
-Should be open to the idea of voicing a character that is openly gay. May need tp make a lewd comment of two (again, depends on the direction of the script) and let a curse word slip here and there.
-I can't promise a generous payment, but depending on how much money I have by the end of it, I may be able to give around $50 dollars to the two VA's chosen for this project. However, you will need a paypal.

  • "Aw, what's the matter sweetheart? Do you need me to comfort you?" (Sassy, suave, flirty)

  • "Just drop it Archi! I'm not speaking to my brother anymore and that's final!" (Angry, say it with volume)

  • "I-I'm...I'm so sorry Archi. I didn't want it to turn out this way." (Sad, can try to convey that he's crying)

Age: 21

Species: Scorpion Lollipop

Full appearance can be supplied if needed.

**Fair warning, you can imagine that I don't know my best friend's character as well as I know my own and (considering this is a surprise gift) I am unable to ask her questions regarding her character and the voice she envisions for him without being overly suspicious. So information may be lacking in this area.

Personality:
  • Grumpy || Mischievous || Stubborn || Indecisive
Hot tempered, hard headed, quick-witted, independent, vague and occasionally helpful. He is typically optimistic until irritated; sadly getting him irritated is not very difficult. He's as likely to assist you as he is to get you lost, either way you're in for an interesting time. It should be noted that he rather enjoys getting lost, often doing so on purpose, claiming that roads untraveled are the ones best taken. Don't let his reclusive lifestyle or anger issues fool you; there's a lot of kindness hidden away in his heart. Show him respect and he will return it justly.

**If you really need more to get into the mind of this character, he's a mapmaker/freelance artist, he loves to explore new places with his pet gummy bear Butters, he appreciates his solitutde where he can get it, he acts like quite the tsundere (can look up the term if you are unfamiliar, but basically he's the kind of guy that will be like "I totally don't like you." while blushing and looking away, and then later in the same day he will see you and give you a hug and a kiss and look away with that same blush on his face while saying 'You're stupid.', which may as well translate to 'I love you') and he's got a history with father issues. He was abusive toward's Archi's mother and was placed behind bars later in life, leaving Archi to be the man of the house.
Can ask more questions involving him if it'll help you!

Voice:
As stated before, I do not have as much knowledge in what is debatably the most important area of information that can be supplied. I wasn't able to ask her that many questions without giving away my motives and really, she just didn't have much to say about him. Archi is rather quiet and annoyed around my character Dulce, despite loving him to pieces. When they interact, they're both pretty sassy towards one another, so you can imagine Archi's voice sounding sarcastic and uninterested, at least, that's the default tone he equips himself with whenever he's in the middle of a spat. He's not typically expressive, choosing to keep his personal feelings and thoughts to himself. However, he can be a playful, troublemaker when he embraces a good mood, he can express happiness and joy with subtlety, where anger and irritation are vented loudly.

Archi, like Dulce, does not have a deep voice. Lacking enthusiasm in one's tone does not translate to deep, he is still young and that youthful nature is felt. You could use a few of the vocal examples that were mentioned with Dulce, though I'm uncertain if they would give off the right vibe, as they are more expressive characters. I can note that my friend had linked me to the Far Cry 4 game and mentioned that the main character, Ajay Ghale, kinda sounded like him. Was still just a touch too deep and lacked an accent, but it was the best example she could give.

And yes, he does have the slightest hint of an accent, nothing strong. It's something that is only notable for some words in his speech- his English is pretty good, you see. The accent in question was one she described as eastern, really I know his character is based around India's culture, so that accent would be your best bet. But again, it's not strong, so don't go whipping out that stereotypical Hindi voice. Keep it subtle and again, keep his age in mind. Not too high or low, gotta find that perfect in between.

-Having a Skype would be preferred. Will keep communication there or through email if you prefer.
-Should be open to the idea of voicing a character that is in a gay relationship. Will definitely need to be open to the idea of cursing, as Archi swears like a sailor.
-I can't promise a generous payment, but depending on how much money I have by the end of it, I may be able to give around $50 dollars to the two VA's chosen for this project. However, you will need a paypal.

  • "W-What the hell is wrong with you?!" (Annoyed, embarrassed, say it with volume)

  • "I don't hate you, I actively dislike your face. There's a difference." (Casually, with a hint of sass)

  • "...You're such an idiot." (Quietly, with some feeling (This is 'I love you' in the language of Archi, can try to convey that if you'd like)
