Project Overview


Lost Hope is meant to be a cinematic short film with Vocaloid characters. The story behind it is a war with broken promises. As much as we would love to save every life as possible, it is an impossible feat. General Kaito is beating himself up especially when a young lieutenant Len passes from blood loss, breaking his promise with his older sister Rin. His promise to bring her beloved brother haunts him and he questions whether he can still lead his army as his numbers dwindle. With his depressed state, his more fiery second in command, Gumi tries to snap him out of it.

When casted, I hope I can receive lines fairly quickly. This is because I really need the voices in order to animate and have correct timing. So, until I get every voice filled, I honestly can't start with the animation process.

The minor characters have a range of 2-4 lines, so if you want less hassle go for those. Otherwise the two lead characters are Kaito & Gumi.

I hope I can get this out in December, but I cannot promise anything especially with school and other activities I'm in. So, please understand if it takes me awhile to upload the final product.

Kaito is at a very emotional state, so I would appreciate some emotion i.e: shouting, forlorn, etc.
I don't imagine a very deep voice for him, yet it' still mature.

  • There is no other way! This war is going to be lost...Countless lives have been lost since the beginning.

  • This cause we’re fighting for is drawing its end. There’s no way we can put up with this any longer. We’re all going to die Gumi, so why not end it here?

  • I’m not a coward, Meiko. When the shogun selects me, his word is final.

For Gumi I imagine a more of a medium-medium high voice just for the purposes of this film. She has a bit more of a fiery / sarcastic personality. She's sick of Kaito beating himself up instead of taking action.

  • Funny I’ve known you long enough to know where you would go hide.

  • We all lose someone and that is not an easy battle especially for the rest of your life. However, Kaito you need to have hope. If you don’t then your men won’t either.

  • Have you finally come to your senses, or will I have to actually have to beat you to your senses?

Luka has a more calm/mature voice almost motherly. Since she's the medic, she tries to care for every soldier with the upmost care in order to save their life.

For Len he has a more higher pitch type of voice. In a sense a girl could try for Len if you want. But nevertheless he is confident that his older sister, Rin has nothing to worry about despite his age and going off to war.

  • -chuckles- I promise I’ll take care of myself, so please take care of yourself while I’m gone.

For Rin, I would say she was a high pitch voice, not to the extent of a Lolita or anything, but medium high - high

Miku has a medium high voice. She's caring and is keeping her friend, Rin company while her brother's away.

  • I’m Miku, a friend of hers. I’m keeping her company once her brother leaves...he’ll come back right? Those siblings are inseparable, so it’ll be tragic…

She is the wife of Kaito - she would have a more low - medium voice. Almost seductive and mature. They're newlyweds, so she of course is worried about becoming a widow.

  • Do you really have to leave to fight this war? We finally settled down only for you to leave again...couldn’t they have found someone else?

  • But what if you lose your life? I’ll be left as a widow…
