Life is a game

Life is a game

Project Overview

I'm creating a story about a 15-year-old boy named Nate who has lived his whole life in an orphanage/foster care because his mother left him, born with a rare disorder that weakened his facial muscles and cannot make expressions, especially smiling and has been made fun of because of it. But one day they receive a foreign visitor named Cassidy. While he's dealing with his new roommate for 2 months he has to figure out what the caretaker is hiding after acting suspicious and the truth is devastating.

I'm not done but you'll have to read and find out when I finish it but right now I need voices, to give each of the characters in the story a personality.

  • (Calmly) yes, Nate?

  • (Becoming angry) Dont you speak to me that way, I'm your mother and you're going to listen to me!

My main female character, Cassidy. She was sent from London by her father after begging him to visit America and it's supposed to be for educational purposes so she was stuck with Nate for 2 months.

Cassidy is has a British accent. I can't emphasize that enough.  No North America accents.

Cassidy is 15 just like Nate and she has a more spunky and positive tone in her voice

  • (Kindly towards Nate) Cassidy, but you can call me Casey if you like

  • (Curiously) you're face.. Your expression doesn't change.

  • (Surprised) you've never smiled? Never?? ...Not even a little? But.. then how do you let people know when you're happy?

The main character to my story, Nate. He almost seems sad  or  bored all the time but he has a very smooth voice for being 15. I'm still not all sure what he'd really sound like so feel free to play around with the role but keep in mind of his condition.

  • Happiness? What is that?

(annoyed) If anyone deserves to be adopted its me.. I've spent 15 years here.

  • (Yelling) YOU'VE LIED TO ME! I HATE YOU! ....I'm telling the dean who you really are.

  • I don't think anyone has a more beautiful smile than you.

The dean looks after the children sometimes but her job is to find homes for the children in the fosterhome. She doesn't really have a name so we call her 'the dean' and she has the older and experienced voice, so a little rough but she usually has a kind tone.

  • They changed their minds, they want a younger child..

  • (Concerned)  Oh my goodness.

  • (Towards McMasters) Yes, he's a very good boy. Ah, speak of the devil.
