Hello everyone, and thank you for showing interest in my project, which is a fan-cast of the 2007 Broadway musical, "Legally Blonde." For this project, I will be casting singers, artists, and mixers to help me achieve my dream of putting together a fan-made "production" of the musical. For this production of sorts, myself and the others who are cast to work with me are going to cover the entire cast album from start to finish and post each cover to YouTube. The roles of Elle Woods and Emmett Forest have been cast in advance, so please take that into account. In order to audition, please take into account the following prerequisites. If you do not consider and abide by these rules before auditioning, you are less likely to be cast.
Singers:
- Follow the directions and notes given on the role you wish to try out for. You are allowed to try out for multiple roles if you wish!
- If you know it, please also provide your vocal range as a comment or note on your audition.
- It is preferred if you record with a high quality microphone. Your microphone does not necessarily have to be expensive, but it must prove to have acceptable quality that can be mixed and mastered without compromising the dynamics of your voice.
- Please submit your audition with no effects or backing tracks. If your audition is auto-tuned, has any effects, or has a karaoke track in the background, you will not be considered for the role. You may keep in time with a track when you record, if you wish, but please do not mix it with your raw vocals.
Artists
- Please be able to draw both males and females digitally and in high quality.
- For each cover, we plan on featuring a piece of art that showcases a scene from the musical. This will vary from song to song (for example, "Omigod You Guys" will likely feature art of the main three Delta Nu girls, whereas "So Much Better" will likely feature art solely of Elle). Because of this, please be prepared to reference the show for details to include in your artwork!
Mixers
- For this project, I will likely be casting 2-3 mixers so the work is evenly split! I do not want to make anyone feel pressured to do full mixes for an album's worth of covers; I want this to be enjoyable for everyone involved! That being said, I will be taking on a timer, a tuner, and a mix master.
- Timer: Timers must be able to accurately time the vocals of all singers involved. For every song, a karaoke track and the original song will be provided for reference. Additionally, I will leave notes to guide you if the karaoke track somehow differs from the original song.
- Tuner: Tuners must be able to accurately tune raw vocal tracks to match the songs using a tuning software of your choice. As with timers, you will be provided with the original song to refer to if there are any inconsistencies in a vocalist's vocal track. If they are perfectly in tune with the song, you do not need to tune their track.
- Mix Master: Mix masters will be expected to, as the title suggests, mix and master the covers. You must have experience working in a DAW and must know how to apply compression, EQ, reverb, limiter, and/or other effects that you see fit to the vocal tracks and the mix as a whole.
With all of that being said, a universal requirement is that all people auditioning must have/be willing to communicate over Discord. This will be our main hub for chatting, file sharing, role discussion, and progress updates, so it is crucial to have an account. If you are cast, you must provide your username to be added to a server with the rest of the cast. Alternatively, you can provide your username along with your audition!
