Sora is voiced by Miyu Irino in the Japanese version and by Haley Joel Osment in the English version. The character's child version is voiced by Takuto Yoshinaga in the Japanese version and by Luke Manriquez in the English version.
"I've been having these weird thoughts lately... Like, is any of this real or not?"
"No, this huge black thing swallowed me up! I couldn't breathe, I couldn't... Ow!"
"Forget it! There's no way you're taking Kairi's heart!"
Selphie first appears when running into Squall while late for class. She asks Squall to show her around because she recently transferred. During the Dollet exam, Selphie joins Squall's team after Seifer abandons them. She becomes a SeeD with Squall and Zell, and the three are assigned to the same team. When Galbadia launches missiles at Trabia Garden, she reacts with outrage and helps destroy the missile base. Throughout the game, she revisits her childhood closeness with Irvine, who serves as her copilot on the Ragnarok.
Selphie was the second character that Nomura drew, after Squall, intentionally giving her an impractical hairstyle. When he first designed Selphie, Nomura drew her in overalls; however, he realized that none of the characters would be wearing a skirt. In the end, he gave Selphie a mini-skirt and let Quistis have pants. In the Kingdom Hearts series, Nomura included a younger version of Selphie as a resident of Destiny Islands, and uses a jump rope instead of nunchaku. She is voiced by Mayuko Aoki in the Japanese version, and by Molly Keck in the English version.
"Ahh, the breeze feels great"
"Hey, Sora, have you heard about the legendary power of the paopu fruit?"
"They say if you share it with someone you really care for... it binds you together forever and ever through eternity! Its so romantic. I gotta try it sometime."
Wakka lost his younger brother Chappu to Sin a year before the events of Final Fantasy X, and he never fully recovered from it. He forms a close brotherly relationship with Tidus, partially fueled by his resemblance to Chappu, though Lulu constantly has to remind him that Tidus is not Chappu. As a devout follower of Yevon's teachings, Wakka believes that anyone who does not believe in Yevon, like the Al Bhed, are evil heathens, and is staunchly against the use of machina. However, he begins to question both his faith by the time Yevon's true colors are exposed to the world. Near the game's ending, Wakka denounces his prior beliefs entirely.
Six months after the events of Final Fantasy X, he marries Lulu. In Final Fantasy X-2, he becomes a father to their baby son, Vidina, a name thought up by Wakka. Wakka is voiced by Kazuya Nakai in Japanese and John DiMaggio in English. A younger version of Wakka makes a cameo appearance in Kingdom Hearts on Destiny Islands as a friend of a younger Tidus and Final Fantasy VIII's Selphie and a sparring partner who can be engaged in battle, fighting with a beach ball. He makes a smaller cameo in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories as well as Kingdom Hearts coded. In Kingdom Hearts, he is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.
"Hey, what's happening, man?"
"Me and Tidus, we are gonna do a little explorin' today. You know, to the secret place at the base of that tree. There's gotta be something there, ya?"
"Show me your stuff!"
"Hey, Sora, you feel lucky today?"
"I think you've gotten stronger, but odds are you're still no match for Riku. We took him on three-to-one last time, and he whipped us all. Well, I guess Kairi can always count on him."
"You're going down!"
