We are a group of senior designers from Kutztown University looking for a strong lead to voice over our new concept: GooglePal, the first ever student safety watch.

  • A much needed change is coming to college campuses throughout Pennsylvania starting with Kutztown University located in Kutztown, Pa. PASSHE and Google have teamed together to increase the safety for college students both on and off campuses. Introducing GooglePal, the first ever student safety watch helping college students within the college town to feel safer. Each student will receive their complimentary safety watch upon committing to any of the Pennsylvania state schools. With this watch, when it is needed, a distress call and exact GPS location are sent to local authorities by a simple scan of any one programmed thumbprint on the activation pad. Upgrades like the interchangeable colored wrist straps will be offered. With water resistant technology, safety light, high pitch alarm, digital clock, and Bluetooth compatibility, safety will be right at your fingertips. All watches include a free app allowing students to track their friend’s locations, see the safest route home, control and update a time tracker to allow friends to know approximately when they will reach their destination, and University compatibility—automatically updating the student’s location and authority output to the closet town police. In collaboration with the local police, Criminal Justice majors, at participating state schools, can volunteer as personal escorts to aid in getting students home safely. Students’ safety shouldn’t be compromised just because they are 10 feet away from campus. Safety shouldn't come at a cost. GooglePal, available May 13, 2017.
