This is also about the story of him and the lives of the people he touched. Aka the young justice comics and the teen Titans comics even when he is not on the roster. The zen guru of speed. Max was born in the late 19th century. But after many time skips he came to the morden world. He now the guardian of Bart Allen. for him, it's punshment by the speed force. He cares deep down though
That's why you took his name and costume, isn't it? In a sense, you did it so the world wouldn't forget him... Or his heroism. You keep saying you don't want to replace Barry, but the moment you became as fast him.... That's exactly what you'll have done.

The whole bum bum: Bart Allen running up and activing Flash ring. The shot ends with zooming into the ring.
I have a heart that gets on everybody nerves: Impulse jumps across the screen and runs up to Max Mercury.
They don't want the truth, they just want the words, blah blah blah: Bart is zipping around Max tugging at his clothing.
And I could sing them till I'm dead: zooms out to reveal it's all a thought bubble Bart is having while sitting in a desk at school.
And none of you remember a single thing I said: he slams his head against the desk as the thought bubble pops
What's the point in being in a voice when everybody already sick of the noise: Bart is in the same position but now as Impulse dodging a bullet.
Everyone's already sick of the noise, everyone already sick of the noise: Impulse beats up a armed thug or two
What's the point in trying to change when everybody already stuck in there ways: a fist slams down near Impulse. It's blockbuster.
Everyone happy with more of the same: Impulse goes for a neck kick.
More of the same, more of the same: blockbuster grabs his leg and throws him into the camera
We born kicking and screaming: Max catches him while running.
Until we learned to turn it down: Max swing throws him back into action
Took our dream and cut in line: Impulse sucker punches Blockbuster
Held our breath and hoped to die: Impulse knees him the gut
Fade on: Impulse spin kicks blockbuster off screen
And all along we got it wrong: we see Savitar and The flash run by
Live a slow and painful life: flash and Savitar are fighting at high speeds.
Put our heart on hold inside: Impulse body slams Savitar into flash's fist
Fade on: Savitar bounces off the flash fist and blinks into the speed force
And along we got it wrong: flash and Bart fist bump before flash runs off.
Oh!: Impulse gets bidyslamed by a green and black blurry.
We keep it hush hush hush: we see Impulse face to face with interia.
Have you had enough: Interia does the bring it gesture
Have you have you have you had enough!: Impulse gets up and runs at Interia
Took our dreams and cut in line: Interia hits Impulse in anyway you want
Held our breath and hoped to die: Impulse hits Interia however you want
Fade one: they hit each other in the exact same way.
And all along we got it wrong: Impulse title
