He Who Forsakes the Crown the Podcast- URGENT RECAST
Project Overview
Hi there! This is a casting call for the recast of one of our leads in our podcast He Who Forsakes the Crown. This is our first project so we're working with no budget, this is just for fun! We're planning on releasing HWFC on podcast players.
Your lines will be written in the novel form and color-coded for easier reading. Recording sessions will be hosted and attended by the directors on various scheduled nights. During these meetings, casted voice actors will have the opportunity to collaborate with one another on aligning tones, inflections, emotions, etc. in various scenes. The directors will be there to give feedback and just observe the overall process. You may use this meeting to record your final takes on certain lines or as a workshop and record on your own time. These meetings are not mandatory. Though as a lead, you are highly encouraged to attend.
All roles are in the English language. We will showcase all voice actors on our website, lead roles will be verbally credited at the end of each episode.
PODCAST OVERVIEW
He Who Forsakes the Crown is a fantasy drama with romance and action following the story of a possessed Prince and lost peasant woman as they navigate through trauma, politics, and love. The synopsis is as follows:
Prince Zayn De’Monté knows deep down that he’ll never be the hero of his own story. His story ended years ago, when he was sixteen and he witnessed the death of his sister. It should’ve been him. So he’ll brush off the gossip mongers who say the worst, calling him evil, insane, possessed. He isn’t willing to live a life anymore, he’s surviving. So what is he supposed to do when a girl who looks like roses tells him that his life has meaning?
The show will be produced as an audio drama with atmosphere, sound effects, internal narration, and composed music. The podcast is premiering on June 4th, 2021.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
- We like to have a lot of fun and we want you to enjoy working on this as much as we do! We want to get along with everyone.
- Do not audition if you are younger than fifteen years old.
- Please state your name, age, and discord handle in your audition or audition information.
- Please submit all final recordings as MP3 or M4A/MP4 files. There' a designated chatroom in the Discord server where you can submit your recordings. You may also submit them via email if you so choose, though it is preferred that they are submitted through Discord for the sake of easy organization.
- On that note, when recording your lines, please record them one line at a time. For example, please do not cram an entire episode’s worth of lines into one recording. This will be easier for our sound editor to identify the lines she needs at certain moments, as well as accommodating for Discord’s outgoing file size limits. Please be sure to name each file according to the line recorded. For longer monologues that are not within the file size limits, you may email the recordings directly to the sound editor herself. That email address will be provided upon casting.
- For recording equipment, our requirements are simply that your voice is clear and crisp with little to no background noise. As long as your equipment allows for good quality recordings, you may use whatever you like.
- We have multiple seasons of He Who Forsakes the Crown planned so we'd like your commitment to this project for a while. If you're unable to offer this please don't audition.
- We're on a bit of a time crunch at the moment, as a recast role you'll be given lines immediately as they're needed ASAP to move forward with production. The lines aren't too long so you should be able to catch up quickly.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM US
You'll be greeted by Sao, Riley, and Gis, the founders of Chapter 15 Studios and creators of HWFC. The majority of our cast has already been cast and we're currently in the recording process. We'll work primarily through Discord so please become acquainted with the application if you're planning on auditioning. We like to have fun with our work and we're excited to look over your audition!

We're looking for someone with a deeper, more mature voice. We want someone who can be stern and commanding at times, with a relatively calm demeanor overall.
(Subtle panic.) No. No this mustn't be the case. The Kimura’s weren’t supposed to be invited to the ball. I haven’t seen a member of the Kimura Royal Family in six years. What were they doing here?
Iris Kimura looked much older than when I last saw her. I knew she’d be sixteen by now. I never really dealt with her much. She was a quiet child who tended to stay out of the way. It was how she had to be. Her older brother Aspen stood by her side. He had always been protective of his sister.
I shouldn’t hold a grudge against the two, they’ve done absolutely nothing to harm me. Yet seeing them invoked something instinctual in me. I wanted to run, I wanted to scream, I wanted to hide. So I took a broad stance, I turned my head away and I took a deep breath.
(Calming down.) They aren’t her. She isn’t here. I’m not the person I used to be; I’m stronger.
