Project Overview
Hiya! Been a while, this is a casting call for the fantasy audiodrama He Who Forsakes the Crown! The show has been releasing onto podcast players and Youtube monthly for over two years.
He Who Forsakes the Crown is a fantasy romance drama/adventure following the story of a possessed Prince and young peasant woman as they navigate through their traumas, political uprise, and love.
Prince Zayn De’Monté knows deep down that he’ll never be the hero of his own story. His story ended years ago, when he was sixteen and he witnessed the murder of his sister. It should’ve been him. So he’ll brush off the gossip mongers who say the worst, calling him evil, insane, possessed. He isn’t willing to live a life anymore, he’s surviving. So what is he supposed to do when a girl who looks like roses tells him that his life has meaning?
We're officially finalizing production! Meaning, I'm wrapping up sending scripts to VAs for recording and need to do some last minute casting. Recording production shouldn't last more than a few months!
This is an unpaid passion project, just for fun!
If you do decide you'd like to work with us, here's a little about what to expect.
Upon casting, you'll be asked to join our project discord server, where you can access scripts, upload your lines, and view any deadlines.
There are only about three more episodes of HWFC to record for! This particular character does have some old lines I'm prioritizing getting done, so those will be assigned upon casting. Other lines will be assigned alongside the rest of the voice actors. I typically allot no less than two weeks for every episode's deadline, extensions are always available with communication.
Scripts are released in multiple shared Google Docs, the script is written like a novel, with tweaks to make it easier for a VA to understand. Your lines will be labeled through your character's name.
We hold cold reads of every script at its release. During these meetings, voice actors will have the opportunity to collaborate with one each other on aligning tones, inflections, emotions, etc. in various scenes. These meetings are completely optional.
All roles are in the English language. We will showcase all voice actors on our website and credit them verbally in episodes they've participated in.
Please upload your lines to the recordings channel on the server. Please try to condense multiple lines into one file, usually a chapter can fit into one file, organizing by page number is also fine. Please submit lines as MP3, M4A/MP4 or WAV files. Please use AAA/BBB/CCC format. You can drop them directly into the chat, or use a Google Drive sharing link.
As long as your equipment allows for clean and crisp recordings with little to no background noise, you may use whatever you like.
Do not audition if you are younger than eighteen years old.

Mid/Low range. Aged 50s-60s. Interested in hearing a variety of voices! Looking for an American accent.
Zerith is the absentee King of Du'Pointe. He left the kingdom in the hands of his son around four years ago, yet he lacks much faith in him. After the assassination of his eight-year old daughter, he's grown paranoid and resentful of his son, blaming him for the incident. Zerith has spent years traveling the world, vacationing and conversing with the royals of other kingdoms. He expects all will be to his liking upon his return.
Zerith is a heavily mentioned antagonist of HWFC who hasn't been present throughout the show as of yet. I'm looking for a voice that's able to "switch it on".
He is constantly putting on a facade of being jovial to his citizens and friends of the court, he should seem as if nothing shakes him. He is confident in the kingdom.
Alone, with his family and especially his son, his true nature should appear, he's much more serious, colder, and easier to anger. He speaks down to others, believing he is the smartest in the room. The switch in personality and cadence should be startling. His upset is quiet.
(This is technically a recast, but I am not concerned with you sounding similar to the previous actor. I'm considering remastering the first episode anyway!)
