Happy Place: A Dogumentary

Happy Place: A Dogumentary

Project Overview

This documentary style short is a deeper look into the everyday dog park, beyond its advantageous grassy open spaces where dogs run wild and free. Told from the perspective of a canine, Sync, and his owner Marie, this short reveals how both dog and human alike find and create meaningful connections within the dog park.

Happy Place is a documentary that explores the dog park through the eyes of a german shepard mix dog and his owner Marie. Sync is taking viewers on a journey of his day at the dog park. His voice is that of a young adult male, more so of a care free teenager rather than a deep voiced adult man. The dog park is his "happy place" and therefore he speaks with happiness and in the beginning as he is on the way to the park his excitement is growing. While Sync is a dog, he should not have one of those dopey cartoonish dog voices.

  • My day begins right when light is just beginning to fill the sky and the chill of night begins to disappear, but my favorite kind of day begins when just after, the front door swings open. I know what this means, I burst through through them with no hesitations and excited speed. Within seconds I have taken my spot front and center in the car with my best friend by my side. As trees blur by outside the reality of whats coming grows nearer. As the wind whips my face through the window, I can tell we are almost there. The vehicle stops, the doors open, and I hit the pavement, i have arrived at the dog park, finally, My happy place.
