Project Overview
The year is 2319, and in the small country of Avalyn, it is ground breaking. Aliens have made first contact. And they're terrifying. Or, at least unsettling. It's been seven days since they've landed, and not so much as a peep has been heard from them. Only a dragging silence that begins to instill fear and paranoia. It won't be until days later that they'll emerge, only to find that humans have already left a trap, and that war had begun long before.
Moonlitfolio is a group whose goal is to create vivid, emersive stories. Ones that people will find themselves lost in, and thinking about all hours of the day. Where the improbable becomes reality, and reality becomes improbable.
Currently, our group is small, but bold. You can rest assured that your talent won't go to waste, and you'll be proud of everything you make. We'll progress together.
1. You must have a good microphone! If your voice is blurry or hard to make out, you won't even be considered. Please make sure you're in a quiet room as well.
2. A Skype! This is where a lot of the updates from moderators will come in. You won't be required to join Skype groups unless you feel comfortable doing so.

Sarah is a main supporting character. She can often be viewed as the "mother" of the group and strives to keep everyone content.
Oh, well, come inside. (opens door wider) Elora is about to pick a movie. Phoenix go put your clothes in the dryer, okay? Just borrow Jazmin’s gown or something.
Lee, can you get a towel for me? I accidently just tipped over Rosie’s water bowl and I don’t know where they put the mop!
I hope you two have a goodnight. You rest up okay?
Elora will play a major role in the story. Not at first, as she will be easy to gloss over in the beginning, but as we near the middle and end of the story it wouldn't be too far off to say that she was the main character. She's lighthearted, but will be forced to mature far to early.
(excited) I can do a cartwheel! Do you want to see? (pause) Okay, look, look! (exasperated) You aren't even looking, Isabelle!
(whispering) It's okay, I won't tell them. But what does your ship look like is it big? Or is it really small? Phoenix said it was bigger than the trees themselves!
(mad, frightened) No! You can't- You can't do this to them! My mommy and sisters live down there! If you do that then I'll never see them again! You promised you wouldn't!
Dena almost always talks as though she's in front of an audience. With strong projection skills, but also an ability to keep her voice even despite how angry she might become, and often comes off as borderline unnerving.
She does give many speeches throughout the story though, and probably has, besides Phoenix, the most dialouge of any character.
Thank you, your honor. People of the senate, you have been called here today because we have a problem, a matter of national security. As you all know, two days ago, an object of massive proportions landed on the banks of the Mississippi River. Now, our scientists have taken measurements and done readings of the object. We now believe this a large ship, potentially carrying alien life forms. We do not know for sure. We also do not know, if there are aliens inside, if, or when, they will emerge. We also do not know how this will affect our people. So, with so many unknowns, today we must vote. Should we make contact? Or should we make the, in my opinion, a much wiser decision, and attempt to destroy it. This would erase any possibility of a threat to our society, our children! (pause to calm herself) Anyway, let’s begin the debate.
(woefully, faking sadness) Thank you. My husband was not just a great man and leader, but also, a loving husband and father. He always put us, his family and country first. So today, instead of mourning, I’d like us to celebrate the life he led, all the good he’s done for this territory and Avalyn as a whole. That’s all I feel I can say.
What are you talking about? We just got back from wh- Oh. (sighing) The funeral. (regained composure, condendensing) Jada dear, you know I’ve had this meeting planned since before the shooting, this just… wasn’t always the desired subject matter.
There are three roles to be filled for senators.
Ma’am, I hadn’t finished. (pause, takes a moment to look at her, before returning attention to audience) As I was attempting to say, just moments ago, you stated the life forms haven’t even emerged from their… ship, for lack of a better word. How can we know for sure they plan to harm us? We aren’t barbarians, we don’t simply attack things we don’t understand. Well, most of us don’t, at least.
I have to agree, this is the first time in history where extraterrestrials have even possibly attempted to make contact. If this is truly a sentient lifeform, I believe we should greet them with peace; extend an olive branch.
I disagree. I believe if they had wanted to make peace with us, they would have done it. Instead they choose to sit on the banks of our largest river and do nothing. The longer we choose to sit here and not do anything on the matter, the longer the safety of New Athens is jeopardized. It’s only three kilometers from the nearest house. Three kilometers. I talked to the family that lived in that home, a mother, and three young, intelligent daughters. The youngest only eight. Now I have to ask you, are you all willing to put this innocent child’s life on the line? Who are we to risk her life?
Age should be older and matured. This is one of the only lines they will have, but the opportunity to be casted for other characters.
Please be seated. We are gathered here this morning in the memory of Tyrone Rose. He passed on March 31st, 2319. As we remember him, our sympathy and prayers go out to the friends and family hat he’s left behind, especially his wife and child, Dena and Phoenix Rose.
While their pain is their own, we can gather here today to give our condolences. And they are joined by extended family, friends, and senators who are here to recognize that a great man has left us today. A man who, if given the chance, would have made the world an even better place.
Please bow your heads in a moment of silence. (a moment of silence passes) Thank you. We will now hear a few words from Dena Rose.
Now… A word from Tyrone’s child, Phoenix,
Tyrone is soft spoken. This is literally his only line, unless we have a flashback.
Our child is the most important thing to us. We strive to keep Phoenix safe, all families safe. Losing a child… (pauses for emphasis) There’s nothing worse I could imagine.
Character has a fairly neutral voice, and plays the role of the main character. They're nonbinary, but sound more feminine than masculine.
Oh! Now he’s just a subject matter?! (laughs mockingly, voice lowering) That’s good! Let’s put it on his gravestone! (sarcastically, voice raising again as if speaking as an announcer) “Tyrone Rose! Not the desired subject matter!”
Thank you.. My father… My father was a great man. And, to an extent, he was a great father. But he had flaws, just like we all do, but he had one that was just too big to overlook. (tearful) He loved (accusatory) her, Dena, my mother. I don’t think that the feeling was ever mutual. Did you even love him? All the crocodile tears…. They’re just for show! (voice raising) Admit it! You used him for power and I, (choking up, words jumbling together) I was just an unfortunate mistake! Maybe you did grow to love us, but what I saw in your face that day, when he was shot, it wasn’t love: it was (pause, trying to find words)… fear. Not fear for your husband or for me, but for your power. (in a shout) Don’t lie to me!
(softly, but with feeling) I hate you.
Lee is often the comic relief of the story, he's the most optomistic of his trio of friends
Sarah invited me over to help with ‘Lora. But like, why don’t you have an umbrella? You look like a mess.
Please tell me it’s not Sparkle Rocks. That show gets like, way too deep for me. (pause) What? It’s true!
Did your mom do this? (gently, and reassuring) I got you. How about we go hang out at my place?
