Experiment 91: A Sonic A U

Experiment 91: A Sonic A U

Project Overview

Before I get into specifics, I want to see if there's any interest in this. I'm thinking of having a cast voice a few short scripts to start, and if things go well, we can make longer ones; I imagine this as a series, a long story in parts. Also, more roles will be added later.

Sonic is a blue hedgehog with a top speed faster than thought possible for an unaided living being, and for years, he's been using his powers to defend Station Square against the evil Dr. Eggman. But little does he know that in a way, Eggman is his father.

Back when the doctor still had faith in humanity, he devoted his time to a series of experiments meant to eventually create a superhero, a protector of mankind. Dr. Kintobor, as he was then known, found it immoral to use a human test subject, so instead, he turned to animals. Through his experiments, he developed a way to alter their genetic makeup so that they'd be bigger, self-aware, and age in human years.

The superpowers, however, weren't perfected until he transformed a month-old hedgehog into a toddler who could break the sound barrier. This was experiment 91, codename: Sonic.

Unfortunately, Kintobor was already beginning to lose hope. The human citizens were having a hard time accepting one of his earlier experiments, number 87. And when 87 disappeared and 88 turned on Kintobor, that was the last straw. He would rid this city, if not the world, of the flaws of organic life, and replace it with much more efficient machines.

Even so, he couldn't find it in him to destroy his remaining experiments, so he let them go. Sonic was raised by a kind human and grew up to be the hero we know today, blissfully unaware of his origins. But that's about to change...

The notorious villain of Station Square who once just wanted to help people, Dr. Eggman is a genius in both biology and robotics. His ideal world is full of machines: efficient, reliable machines that can't turn on him or his other creations.

Even though he considers himself done with organic life, he can't bring himself to hate the experiment series Sonic's a part of. He just considers the little blue wiseguy an annoyance, and he wishes he could see the dark side of the people he's protecting.

  • Experiment 91 is a success! *grabs Sonic* Whoop, easy there, little guy. Quite the fast one, aren't you? I think I'll call you...Sonic.

  • MUAHAHAHAHA! At long last, my plan is coming to fruition!

  • Don't you see, Sonic? The only reason they even respect you is because you're of use to them!

Experiment 90. Raised by the owner of Ages Electronics, Sonia is used to a life of luxury. Which has made her a bit of a snob; she tends to place herself higher than others simply because that's how she's been treated most of her life.

But despite her upbringing, she's still willing to help those less fortunate than she is, and once she learns her background, she agrees to join Sonic on his adventures. She may not have her brother's speed, but with her strength and "cyclone" ability, she's more than capable of working alongside him.

  • "Can't afford it"? Do you KNOW whose daughter you're talking to?

  • The truth is, I never wanted to get into business anyway.

  • Ugh! I cannot believe I have to work with these two!

Experiment 91. He's blue, he's fast, and he's a celebrity. While his heroic work is mostly confined to Station Square, there have been news stories about him all over the globe. The public can't just ignore a talking blue hedgehog who can travel faster than sound.

Of course, when you're used to speeds like that, it's pretty easy to get bored, so Sonic is quite impatient. He's good at heart, though, and when there's someone in trouble, he's quick to answer the call. REAL quick.

  • Hey, Egghead! Over here!

  • Okay, Eggy. You're telling me YOU'RE my father, I'M some kind of lab rat, and hedgehogs aren't supposed to be blue? What's going on here?

Experiment 89. For someone who grew up in a dangerous neighborhood, Manic is pretty laid back. But his background does show in other ways, namely his talent for stealing. In fact, it was in a newspaper he swiped where he first read about Sonic, the first talking, brightly colored hedgehog he'd seen besides himself. At the time, he had no idea how much they were connected...

  • Relax, man. I only steal from rich people!

  • Never mind THAT. What I want to know is how come you didn't give ME any superpowers.

  • I guess that makes you my little bro, little bro!

Experiment 87. The biological mother of at least Sonic, Aleena was physically around 25 years old when she was first transformed into her humanoid state. Dr. Kintobor temporarily gave her a job as his lab assisstant in the hopes that she'd succeed on her own, but the citizens of Station Square simply couldn't take her seriously, and she faced mockery and hatred until she mysteriously disappeared. She's rumored to still be alive, however...

  • While I'm grateful for my extended lifetime, I realize that at the time of my transformation, the world wasn't ready for me.

  • Yes, Sonic. You can stop calling Eggman your father now.
