Hello! My name is Birdie and today I will be introducing my first project.
Brief Overview
This project is based on the works of Spike Chunsoft and takes inspiration from Danganronpa and (minor inspiration from) Zero Escape. This project is non-profit and just for fun. I am a student so I do not have the money to pay you. This project is a fan Danganronpa Killing Game or a 'Fanganronpa' and follows several aspects of a usual Danganronpa game.
What is Danganronpa?
Danganronpa is a video game in which sixteen high school students become trapped within some form of facility and forced to kill each other to escape. Chapter by chapter, secrets unveil themselves as characters develop and the story unfolds. In each chapter, a motive is presented and eventually a killer snaps and is driven to murder. At the end of the game, the mastermind (the one behind the game) is revealed to the surviving students and they eventually escape to freedom.
What makes Dreaming of Locked Doors different?
Dreaming of Locked Doors (or DoLD for short) takes Danganronpa's format but adds multiple twists. The game began as a killing game roleplay and takes parts of a Zero Escape series I was thinking of creating. Zero Escape is similar to Danganronpa - it still involves escape and murder but has a non-linear structure and has more of a sci-fi focus. DoLD also uses original characters of many online users and I have received their consent to use their characters. As a result. many of the users who own these characters have opted to provide their voices which is why there are not many voice acting roles available. DoLD also has eight chapters instead of the standard six and has a lot of complicated twists and turns. Many of the lines for the voice acting roles will come from the roleplay itself and the character's owner gets the final decision on the voices, I do not. This game has twenty-four characters rather than the usual sixteen which is why there are more chapters.
Further details of each character are given in the role description.
As of this description being written (21/02/2021), Chapter Four has just begun so more details will be added as the game develops.
What expectations can I expect?
As this project is not paid, you can expect flexible deadlines. If you have anything major coming up or your mental health needs to take priority I will understand that completely. On that note, however, I will not tolerate a lack of commitment from laziness. If you know that you are not going to be an active part of this project then I strongly advise against auditioning for any roles. I am not asking for a commitment to this project one hundred percent of the time though, I know life can get in the way sometimes and that is perfectly okay.
If you are auditioning for a voice acting role, ensure that there is minimal to no background noise and that the audio is of high quality. You may be asked to rerecord if this is not the case. Some of these characters are also loud and shout a lot - if you cannot commit to this then please do not audition for these roles.
All I can ask for is that you have tried your hardest. I will never knock you for trying as hard as you can and will give constructive criticism where you could make improvements but I will never cut you down for any work you produce.
Any works of art will need to be in the Danganronpa style so it can be used for the fanganronpa to look consistent with the source.
As I understand what I need for other roles, this section will be updated.

Angel 'Mozzie' Thorn

Angel is a jokester, he makes it his goal to boost everyone's mood, even at the expense of his own sanity. Most commonly, he goes by "Mozzie." A name given to him by a close friend, an Australian term for a mosquito. He believes the name is a reference to his hobby of BMX racing, zooming and flying over the course. Either that or the fact that he can be annoying.
Mozzie, in reality, has no Ultimate. He's a good racer, but he's the only one in the group with no talent whatsoever.
Mozzie becomes quick friends with, surprisingly, the host of the killing game. He truly believes she had no part in this, and that she isn't at fault.
Despite not having a talent, Mozzie loves doing what he does. If he has to break a few bones just to make a quick laugh, so be it. He's a crowd pleaser at heart and he'll do anything to protect his friends.
Mozzie has a high pitched voice for a male, and his tone needs to convey his sarcasm.
(Apprehensive but trying to act cool) "The deathly secret of Mozzie, professional BMX racer, the American Idiot, the green haired guy, the dude who will sadly go down in history as the man who got stuffed into a maid dress, issssss!"
(Joking around) "Nah, man. I have absolutely no clue who this girl is. Apparently she don't know me either, cuz I'm lacking in the whole vagina department."
(Snarky) "Name one redeeming quality 'bout you. No, being an abuser doesn't count, nor being a piece of shit. Your fashion sense neither, it's ass. Ick, your hygiene too. Ya got bugs in your hair, no wonder you smell like shit.

Atlas is the Ultimate Dollmaker. He can be presented in any accent, with his voice being medium / midlow range.
As a character, Atlas is rather calm and composed. He does not get angry very easily, yet also doesn’t seem to like it when his friends are aggressive either. He is extremely protective over certain people and his dolls that he has made, treating them as if they are his own children. He is also often seen walking around holding his dolls.
(Neutral) “I’m Atlas Zervelis, though most people can’t pronounce my last name. It’s nice to meet you.

Ayiko is a sweet girl at heart but comes off a bit cold at first. She's easy to fluster and quick to rage, not to mention her slight violent tendencies. She's witty but not always confident in her plans. People trust her leadership skills even though they tend to be a bit shaky.
Ayiko has a mid to low range voice. She is Japanese but is fluent in English as well as learning three other languages.
(Bored/Uninterested) "I'm Ayiko Fuji, Ultimate Cleaner....sometimes called a maid by clients. But then they get the wrong idea and I have to pepper spray them."

Azaki can be described as “distant”, not talking to others unless they approach her. She doesn’t like conversations and prefers to spend her time alone. Her talent isn't a secret, but she refuses to disclose it to anyone. She seems to feel some sort of remorse surrounding it, though.
When she breaks out of her shell and gets to know someone, she's eternally grateful. Though, she still has some problems expressing her gratitude.
She has a low pitched voice on the female spectrum. She speaks bluntly and her voice is clear and smooth.
Azaki is the Ultimate ???.

Calia is a very pompous and posh woman. She believes that she is above everyone else and she shows her power through her wealth and status. Her colour is purple as it represents elegance and royalty. She is a minor character who is a co-host during Chapter Two. She acts incredibly mean, bossy and quite cruel to certain characters.
A German accent is preferred but not required. Her voice is middle to mid-high in range and she has an air about herself. She should sound snobbish, arrogant and very self-important. She should sound older and purposeful.
(Pompous, with self-importance) "Anyhow, I must do my introductions. After all, you need to learn who the most important person will be to you from now on. My name is Calia."
(Mockingly, almost disgusted) "Either fill your purpose or stop dressing like a slut and actually dress decently. Buy designer clothes or don’t leave the house. You’re a trash fest.”
(Exasperated and very entitled) "Couldn’t they have asked that mouldy strawberry to do this whilst I relax? Being fabulous is a full-time job."

Charlie Samson is the Ultimate Chess Player, he's incredible adept and intelligent. His voice is mid to mid-high, and he speaks with a British (English) accent. This character often swears and shouts, so only audition if you are okay with that.
Charlie has alot of friends but also alot of enemies, his hot temper and anger issues tend to get in the way of building relationships. Despite this, he loves a good competition, always itching to be the best.
(Enthusiastic) "Welcome one, welcome all to the most important decision you lot have ever made!"
(Neutral) "Once I became a regular, I started to grow on the staff there. I got to talk to them as I played games with them. Chess really brought us together, you know?"

Cherry, the Ultimate Japanese Street Stylist, is a timid person who is really jumpy but tries to not scare people away. Whenever she talks about her past she giggles and smiles and messes with scissors a lot of the time to help her to cope with it. She believes she is below everyone and thinks she deserves nothing but to make other people happy. Whenever she is getting bullied, harassed or accused of something, she gets angry and threatens people or tries to find loopholes or gaps in their argument.
Cherry's vocal tone is mid-high and she messes up words a lot. shudders a lot of the time. She is really giggly when happy, she sounds soft and happy sounding.
(Introduction) “H-Hi I’m Cherry... It’s nice to meet y-you... O-Oh you don’t care, I understand..."
(Passive-aggressive, laughing through her anger) “ Oh...OHHHH and you're accusing me?! Well, there are other people here that are part of this too! SO GO AND DIE IN A HOLE!”

Cig is very sarcastic, cynical, uncaring and impartial. They do not care for others, but not in the way that they are cruel. They are just sick of everything and do not wish to be there. Cig will be eager to shut down conversations and only talks to people if they want to or it's necessary. Cig may come off as harsh, but it will only be to fend off others or because they are too tired to care. Their attitude does not come from a place of malice, just from being impartial and uncaring about everything. They smoke and cough a lot as a result.
Cig has a deep voice with a feminine tone. They are non-binary but identify more with masculinity. Their voice is quite monotone and they often sound bored. They sigh at times but especially when irritated. An Australian accent could be interesting but is not at all required.
(Uncaring, frustrated) “Aight fuckwads, let’s get this. Name’s Cig. Not Siggy, Cigarette and most certainly not Gabrielle. I fucking hate the name Gabrielle. Boss thought it was funny to keep saying it.”

Cosette, The Ultimate Sommelier, is very much a people pleaser. She wants those around her to be happy, even if it is at the cost of her own joy. She will tolerate a lot of behaviours towards herself but not to others. She will stand up for others if she thinks that they are being treated badly but is willing to die for others. She does not put herself first. She has a lot of attachment and trust with her boyfriend Nicholas and has remained loyal to him for nine years.
Cosette has a bubbly, chipper voice for most of the time, she can often dip down into a more reserved, gentle and quiet tone when she panics or gets upset and starts stuttering. Her pitch is high to medium and she has a French accent, which is required for the role. She will speak French but it is very rare but it is still important to have a basic understanding of the language.
(Happy) "This is so pretty! There are so many beverages.. I can make even more!"
(Desperate) "Please.. just, tell me the code.. if it sets him free, I'll tell you where the chainsaw is.. I promise.."

Jeremy is an abuser who had a girlfriend. His girlfriend is in the killing game and he makes his own debut in Chapter Three, in which he beats the woman black and blue. He gaslights her and makes her life a misery and he is responsible for revealing her secret. He is arrogant, self-assured and always believes he is in the right. He will do whatever he can to get what he wants and does not expect to be refuted. He is manipulative, conniving and very cunning.
Jeremy's voice is mid-low to low and has ranging tones of aggression. When talking to people that aren't his girlfriend or people who have crossed him he is kind but makes his presence known. He wants to make it clear to people that what he says goes and will cause a problem if this is not the case. To people who have crossed him, he is incredibly aggravated and aggressive. His aggression with his girlfriend is just him manipulating her calmly in public. He sounds very conniving and manipulative. When he does flip, he is angry, uncontrollable and prone to violence and aggression.
(Passive-aggressively, i.e calm but clearly angry)"This is what happens to little girls who don't learn lessons."
(Calmly and politely) "Oh, my apologies. I didn't realise we had an audience."

Karl is the Ultimate Figure Skater.
His voice is on the deeper side, and it is quite smooth. He has a little bit of a Swedish accent, he may mispronounce words or his accent might make a few of them hard to understand. However, he can have a British or American accent.
Karl has a very complex personality. He has his outside persona when he's performing and out in public. And then there's his inside persona, like around family and friends.
His outside persona is very bright and bubbly, he tries to be as nice as possible to people. He tends to have a really big sweet spot for kids though and is therefore really nice to them. He can get annoyed but it's only on rare occasions, for example when people are being extremely rude to him or his friends or when he sees someone else being mistreated
His inside persona is more calm and relaxed. He bit of a hermit and doesn't go outside or socialise a lot, but he is still a nice guy, he just doesn't have as much energy. He still has a huge soft spot for kids, especially his younger brother.
(Neutral/happy undertone) "Hi! I'm Karl, nice to meet you! I hope we can become great friends."
(Sad/nervous tone) "Oh I-I...uhm-No I didn't- I didn't know it was like that- No I'm sorry- I'm sorry-" //most likely on the verge of tears

Marius is a homeless man who quite likes being on his own in life. He's incredibly tall and goes by the title "Urban Explorer" as opposed to just.. "Hobo".
He makes fast friends with Catzea despite their different upbringings.
Marius, for whatever reason, seems fascinated with the deaths in the game - even saying that everyone who dies "probably deserved it."
His voice is incredibly deep, but shaky.
(Agitated) "How about this? If you've never seen a body before or can't help in the investigation, get the fuck out of here."
(Sick, about to pass out) "Catzea.. we made a.. mistake.. he.. poisoned.. everything.."
(Flirty) "Oh, sure. Don't mind me if I give it a little smooch first, though."

Mellow is a strange girl. She seems quiet at first, but once you know her, that's where it all begins. She tends to become sarcastic and doesn't understand 'figuring people out slowly'. She was taught that it was all to do with first impressions. She isn't really known by some people as she distances herself.
Mellow's voice can range from low to high, her tone soft as she speaks. Her first language is English, but she's learning Japanese.
(Bored/Uninterested) "I'm, Mellow Bee, and I'm the ultimate sketcher, I mean, it's a strange talent and all. But.."
(Proud/Gleeful) "Meet my two favourite people~!! I mean, I like everyone here, but MY TWO FAVORITE PEOPLEEEE!"

Nathaniel is the Ultimate Seancé. He's very withdrawn, usually keeping to himself. He likes the calm silence of being alone but doesn't mind company. If he doesn't like you, he'll begin to fidget when the person he doesn't like is near him. His weakness is that he is too emotionally attached to his friend Nemui. He will do irrational things if he feels she is in danger.
Nathaniel has an American accent and he usually sounds kind of tired or relaxed. His voice range is at around mid-high with a male voice.
(Relaxed) "My name is Nathaniel. Come talk to me if you are having trouble with ghosts."
(Irritated.) "That's not what the salt is for. Put it back down."
(Amused.) "Well, I certainly wasn't expecting that."

Neve is the Ultimate Ice Skater. He comes off as shy and if around too many people he tends to panic. He always feels cold, but he doesn't mind it because he loves snow and used to live on a snowy mountain with his father. He does not believe that mean people exist and believes everyone has their own problems. He won't judge, cry or panic too heavily due to 'not being allowed to'. He is too apologetic.
His voice is very female-like, usually quiet and soft but may become raspy if lowered too much. It changes tone depending on the emotion he's expressing. He is usually calm, but when confused his voice may become high pitched sometimes.
(Introduction, shy) "U- uh...I'm Neve...and...you...?"
(Scared, will feel colder than usual) "It's...so cold...I need to leave..."
(Breakdown, even if not allowed, will cry and scream) "SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP! GO FUCK YOURSELF!"

Nicholas Romain

Nicholas' name is pronounced as 'Ni-co-la Ro-ma."
Nicholas Romain is incredibly hot-headed and easy to anger. He has a certain infatuation for Cosette due to his upbringing and has been dating her for 9 years. The rest of the cast will often be confused as to why Nicholas and Cosette are dating as he is not exactly the nicest guy, but Cosette seems eager to believe he will change eventually.
This role may be straining, as Nicholas shouts quite a lot. If you're uncomfortable with swearing, I'd also recommend avoiding this role. When mocking, he has a more conscedencing than loud voice. A French accent is necessary, but he very rarely speaks in French, if not only once.
He's the Ultimate Aviator, but for some reason - he seems to have a clear disdain or planes, along with weddings.
During the game, he makes quick enemies with a boy named Charlie and they bicker quite often, this spiteful relationship instigates quite a few tragedies in the story.
(Mocking) I repeat, you on crack or something? It's the twenty-first century, you're missing a few hundred years, ma'am.
(Agitated) "Let's start with you. You're gonna die anyway, but I want my revenge. You killed for your own selfish gain, so I'm gonna get *my* satisfaction this time around."
(Mocking) "Well, I'm Nicholas Romain. Better known as 'Nick The Prick' around this shitstain of a hotel. Now, do you wanna put your toy down? Playtime's over."

Niko is a very standoffish man. He doesn't take ridiculousness from anyone and is clear in what he says. He is forward, has a big impression and is not afraid to speak his mind. He is irritated by childish antics and does not appreciate people who cannot act maturely.
Niko's voice is mid-low in pitch. He has a British accent which is really preferred but not required. He speaks very harsh, blunt and to the point.
(Annoyed, disapproving) "Well, you got something right about her. She acts like a child."
(Irritated, angry) "I don't care if the opportunity was there, you should've consulted with me first! We were sent here to prevent things like this from happening, not to be the cause of it!"
(Trying to be kind, but awkward and panicked) "I've seen how you treat people your own age and even people older than you. You've shown nothing but kindness to everyone."

Nina has a soft voice, rarely raising it. She avoids swearing in any way. Some times she switches to speaking in Welsh when she is feeling extreme emotions, such as excitement, anger or fear. Along with speaking Welsh, she has a slight accent. When she can, she comforts people the best she can and dislikes conflict, staying away from it. Though the game, she has become more comfortable with small conflict but still doesn't like physical fights. When she is nervous, she stutters slightly.
(Cheerful) "Ah, hello! I am Nina Aderyn, the Ultimate Wedding Planner."
(Disappointed) "I had recently been hired... But I suppose now that I am here I will not be able to take the job."

Norway, The Ultimate Model is an energetic guy and he tries to get along with everyone, which may appear as annoying but he doesn’t know that. Deep down, he also believes that he’s slightly better than everyone else. On the downside he could be extremely cold and blunt when something he doesn’t like happens.
He has a higher pitched voice, compared to the average male, also the typical American accent.
(Energetic) “Hiya! I’m Norway Star! You’ve probably heard about me though, right?”

Raelyn is the textbook definition of timid. She's very quiet around new people and doesn't like confrontation. She is very kind when you get to know her and will always stick up for you but is very easy to manipulate. She always believes that everyone has some kindness in them and wants everyone to be happy. She is the Ultimate Baker and wants to make people happy with her baking. She keeps to herself to begin with but becomes more talkative as the game goes on. She wants everyone to be safe and happy, even at the cost of her own life.
Raelyn's voice is mid-high to high and she stumbled over her words quite a lot. She can feel easily intimidated and will cry in situations where she feels scared or unsafe. When she is happy, her voice sounds quite bright and cheerful but when she is panicked or sad, she will go quiet and will be less eager to speak.
(Crying, very panicked) "I-I’ll do w-what you want...I-I can be a-all yours... P-Please, d-don’t hurt them...I-I’ll take the b-blame...I-I’ll die if it m-makes you h-happy..."
(Upset but slightly angry, talking in protest) ”P-Please...be kind...I-I get what h-he did was w-wrong...but he didn’t deserve to d-die! H-He has g-good in him...I-I’ve seen it...No-one deserves t-to die by another’s h-hands...!”
(Happy) "Y-You deserve l-love and h-happiness...N-No m-matter what, okay? L-Let's be the g-guiding lights to our o-own futures!"

Riley is the Ultimate Bully: very sarcastic and snarky but not too spiteful or aggressive. He thinks he's better than everyone around him; he can and will find a problem with the people around him. He is not afraid to speak his mind and will knock others down if it may be to his benefit. He can be seen as quite argumentative and engages in a fight or two. He is brash, harsh at times but embarrassed around those who may show him kindness or affection. He has a special kind of fondness for one of the characters, eventually pursuing a relationship with him.
Riley's voice is very sharp, blunt, curt and aggressive but it has a slightly soft tone with it. If he is angry, his voice will be even louder and more assertive but if he is timid or shy, he will be either quiet or aggressive out of embarrassment. His voice is medium to low pitch and he can have an American or British accent.
(Aggressively) "Fuckin' idiot! What?! Are you thick in the head or something? If you still don't understand then you're too stupid to be helped and you'll die alone!"
(Embarrassed) "Shut up, idiot! I'm not cute! I'm....I'm tough and mean and badass!"
(Cocky) "I'm Riley Edwards. Now you can say you've met the certified, biggest asshole on the planet. I am the Ultimate Bully after all."

Rose is a very panicked woman who appears to worry unnecessarily. She always appears stressed and it's hard to get her to calm down. When calm though, she appears to be kind and caring. She will try to be there for others, despite being worried very easily. She's a key part of Chapter Six in the game.
Rose has a mid to mid-high voice with either a British or American accent preferred but not required. She tends to sound worried and stressed but she can be calm at times.
(Panicked) ”O-Oh, sorry. My name is Rose." (Nearly crying, still panicked) "D-Don’t give that to the German government! There will be serious consequences!"
(Happy, calmer) “You seem nice too! Was Norway on our side in the Great War? Either way, nice to meet you!”
(Panicked, angry) "How can you know the future?! I refuse to believe you, you’re full of it! That will never happen again!"

Ryokka's name is pronounced 'Re-yoh-ka'
Ryokka is very flirtatious, to a point of making other characters feel incredibly uncomfortable. She will flirt with men most commonly but some women may be a victim of her flirting. Ryokka is very key to Chapter 3 and spends most of her time talking to two or three male characters. She is very callous to one of the female characters and mentions abuse.
Ryokka has a mid-low to low voice and must sound very seductive most of the time. However, at times in the story, she can appear very angry which will lead to the tone being dropped. She sides with people who are morally wrong and has no care for those in her way, tearing others down to get what she wants.
(Flirty, almost seductively) “Well, it’s lovely to meet you! If you need me, come find me in my little love nest...”
(Laughing, almost mocking) "You would’ve regretted that missed opportunity. Hell, you’ll probably come back later and ask to fuck me.”
(Angrily, on the verge of shouting) “Even if I love you, you’re a miserable dick who can’t appreciate a good body!”

Sunny is a very cheery girl who is optimistic and loves to party. She is very sociable and loves talking to people, she will always be kind unless she has a reason not to be. Sunny is a bright beam of happiness for those remaining in Chapter Four and is athletic but also a lover of music.
Sunny has a mid to mid-high voice and a (stereotypical) Southern American accent is preferred but not required. She is cheery, upbeat and always up for a laugh. She can get angry sometimes and she can get a bit aggressive when she does.

(Energetic, happy) “Who wants to come have some fun? Or who needs to vent to me! I gotcha from dusk till dawn from booze to bright smiles! The name’s Sunny!"
(Sympathetic, caring) “What’s wrong, bestie? You can’t be so lonely all the time! You’re the Ultimate Hostess! You gotta get out there and make people happy! Also, no update on the mission. I’ll get to that! But I gotta make sure you’re okay.”
(Angry) "Listen up! I don't* condone or like the spreadin' of rumours so I'm gonna have to ask ya to stop, got it?"

Sylvia is very upbeat and optimistic, she is easily pleased and finds fun in seemingly laborious activities such as repairing computers. She is The Ultimate Repair Technician.
She has a terrible sense of humour, if you said the letter E after a long silence, she would blurt out laughing. She is more focused and serious when she can put her mind to a task such as repairing devices.
She is extremely trusting, wanting to be friends with everyone.
(Nervous into Neutral) "Oh jeez, not the lights... I wonder if their electricity bill is gonna drop because of this.."
(Distracted) "Oh yeah, it has had a lot of my attention, a friend of mine gave it to me a looooong time ago."
(Amazed) "Ooooh! That's really interesting! I guess if there was a ghost near me I never would've noticed. I'm from a place known to be cold, after all."

Yuri Aikawa is the Ultimate Ghostwriter. She's a fairly reserved japanese girl. Though blunt, she tries her best to be kind to others.. she isn't really sure how, though, resulting in her appearing apathetic. She often apologises, though. Which shows she really is trying. Yuri tends to space out, thinking about a variety of new story ideas. Despite her negative traits, she's a reliable and fairly agreeable person. She's definetly more calculated and manipulative than she lets on however, whether she realises that or not.
Yuri has a low female voice, she sometimes swears and is rather cold.
(Petty) "Seriously..? Like, I doubt we can change our vote once we make our decision.. um.. choose what you want, I guess. But if the end-result is bad, you all shouldn't complain."
(Startled) "I.. n-no, we aren't going to kill you.. but it looks like someone else already jumped the gun. Come on, let's find the body."
(Happy) "That's.. really nice of you. And I mean that, genuinely. I'm sure you were adored by the staff there, then. Prince Charming since the day you were born, huh."
