Project Overview

Introduction

Welcome to my fandub for the game Dragon Quest or Dragon Warriors as some may be more familiar with it by. I am on a mission to do fandub videos of some older game series' that were never voice acted that will be released on a new YouTube channel I am starting for this. This is going to be in video format and not an actual playable version of the game.

What I'm Looking For

Due to this and future projects like this being fandubs, unfortunately I am not able to offer monetary compensation due to copyright. Although it is unpaid though I would like to still have a level of professionalism and quality to the project. So I will be looking for people with:


  • Good quality microphone, preferably XLR but if you have a USB mic do not let that deter you from auditioning since it is the sound quality I'm looking for and that's still definitely achievable with some USB mics.

  • Little to no background noise, reverb or echo. Some we can definitely work with but if there is too much of any of these it greatly takes away from the quality of the audio and can be very jarring to listen to when mixed in with other audio.

  • Discord is definitely preferred but not mandatory by any means but will make things much easier to work on the project as a whole.

  • A good attitude! I'm hoping to form a great group of people to continue working with me on these projects going forward and that is obviously much easier if you can get along well with me and the rest of the team!

Parts

Some of the projects I will be listing may not have a huge amount of big roles as older games like this, a lot of them weren't as story driven. However because I am wanting to fully dub the dialogue in the game, there will be a lot of NPC's that will be needing voices. So I will be listing extra roles which may not seem like much but they will be for a large selection of characters throughout the game, so there will be a decent amount of lines for them as well! The Hero role although there are not really any lines for him in the game itself we will be adding to make him more of the main character he deserves to be!

If you are not chosen for this project please do not feel discouraged, there are not many roles for this particular one but there will be more in future projects!

If you would like any feedback regarding your audition as well please let me know when you post it and I'll be happy to give feedback to anyone wanting some!

  • Thank you all!

    First of all, congratulations to everyone that was cast! We had some amazing talent and you all made our job extremely difficult that it's taken a long time to finish the casting. There was quite a few people we wanted to cast but unfortunately due to the amount of roles available we weren't able to get everyone we wanted a role. With that said, we will be listing the casting call for the second games videos within the next couple of days and would love it if you would try out!   • Will Finish Casting Soon!

    Hi all! Just wanted to send out an update since it's taken way longer to finish casting then I expected. Just wanted to let everyone know this is still in progress, just with the massive amount of auditions we ended up getting (that we are incredibly thankful for btw!) and with the holidays and everything else going on it's taken way longer to come to a final decision then expected. That said, we have finished cutting down our short list so we should have a final cast for you all by the end of the weekend! Thank you all so much for being so patient and for making this a much more difficult process then we expected.

  • One More Day!

    It's down to the final day of auditions today! Again thank you all so much for the overwhelming support for this project! We are going to need a bit more time than we had originally expected to go through and do the casting process since there was way more auditions than we could have even hoped for and some amazing talent! Due to the limited number of roles and the amount of quality actors/actresses we've had apply, we may end up reaching out for second auditions for some of the main roles, and there may be some people we reach out to about possibly auditioning for our next project, which will be going live here soon! Since we unfortunately will not be able to cast everyone we want with the limited number of roles in this game. Thank you again so much everyone for all the time and effort you've put into auditioning for this project and I'm so excited to see how this all comes together!

  • Feedback!

    So I just want to apologize for not getting feedback to everyone quite as quickly as we were hoping! We were honestly not expecting such a huge turn out of auditions and we could not be more grateful to you all! We have been starting to go through sending off some feedback and questions for a few people. I've been DMing people for the most part to discuss any questions we've had so keep an eye on your messages over the next couple days. Thank you guys all again so much for the incredible support!

  • 100 Auditions!

    Wow we just have to say thank you guys so much for the overwhelming support! We couldn't be happier to see so many people so excited for this project! We are both totally blown away by the amount of auditions and the quality we've received already! Over the next 2-3 days we will be going through and responding to any feedback requests up to this point and if there's anyone we have questions for or would like to hear more from for whatever reason, we will be starting to reach out to to give lots of time to take the feedback and audition again should they choose. If you do not hear anything do not worry! That does not mean you are not in the running, on the contrary that most likely means we've heard everything we needed to hear from you at the moment. This is the King of Tantegel, the castle that the game starts off at and continues to circle back to. Although you travel to various other locations, the hero always comes back here and therefore sees the King more than pretty much any other character. Which is why he is listed as a lead.
He is distraught at the beginning because his only daughter has been kidnapped and sees the hero as his only chance of seeing her alive again. 

  • Ah... Descendant of the legendary warrior! We've been awaiting your arrival!

  • Long ago, the legendary warrior was given the Ball of Light by God.

    With its power, he defeated the demons that had covered this world.

    Then the evil Dragonlord appeared…

This is the main antagonist for the entire game. He was sealed away generations ago and has come back to wreck havoc on the world by releasing swarms of monsters to destroy everything.

I am looking for a sinister and evil sounding voice to capture the menace that he is. No specific preference on pitch as long as you can fit the character.

  • Welcome, Hero. I am the Dragonlord--King of Kings. I have been waiting long for one such as thee. I give thee now a chance to share this world and to rule half of it if thou will now stand beside me. What sayest thou? Will the great warrior stand with me?

Although the Wise Men do not have names specifically they are significant parts in the story. Wise Man 1 is very happy to finally see the legendary hero after years and years of waiting. He bestows upon him one of the treasures needed to reach the Dragonlord. After giving the hero the treasure he goes to lay down for a long awaited rest. 

  • Oh hero!

    I was told that someday a young descendant of Erdrick would visit.

  • I pray for the time that you once again return the light to this land.

  • Now, I have kept and protected the Stones of Sunlight for a long time.

    I’m now feeling a little tired.

    I’m going to lay down and rest.

Although the Wise Men do not have names specifically they are significant parts in the story.  Wise Man 2 is very skeptical of the Hero at first and that should come across in his voice. He quickly learns he was wrong to be though and is incredibly thankful the true hero has finally arrived.

This is just a fun little role that only has a few lines but I felt deserved his own role as well. He is a minstrel trying to become as good as the legendary one his town is named after. Just have fun with this role!
