Danganronpa: The Despair Transmission
Project Overview
This is the Despair Transmission: A Danganronpa fan project where you follow Marcello White, and his class, as they experience a deadly game of trust and doubt, truth and lies, and trying to figure out an abundance of mysteries as the game of murder unfolds around them. Survival may not only be for the strong.

This is a fan project based on Spike Chunsoft's franchise "Danganronpa", but is in no way affiliated with it, despite it being in a similar visual medium (Visual Novel). It will have different parts, for simplicity's sake, and will run for six chapters, similarly to the main franchise. There is a discord server up and running for the project, if you want to ask me any questions or just wanna chat about this or anything else. All cast members must join the server, as that is where I'll give updates due to not having Instagram.
Edit: If you are thinking of auditioning, then go crazy with your interpretation of the characters, because the guidelines are just my interpretation.
Edit 2: All lines are going to be sent in a playscript format, in a wordfile, as of when I have the script written and pinned down with fluidity and all that jazz. The parts will come out after I have everyone's.

Marcello is the opposite of the sort of person you would expect to find themselves in a situation like this: He is relatively reserved when it comes to new people, but is very good at thinking on his feet. He would be enthusiastic to help people he trusts in anything they need assistance with, and, being the Ultimate Councillor, he often finds himself as the role of both mediator and the final decision. He's hardly well-known, and is highly humble about his talent, but that makes him one of the easiest people to go to, given the fact that he is an approachable person.
Guideline is basically just that: Sound like the general type to resolve conflicts wherever possible, and without much in the way of impulsive decisions, remaining calm a good percentage of the time.
"If that's the way to go, we'd best be standing still until we can find out more."
"I'll make sure to do everything I can to keep as many people as I can safe and sound. I promise you."
"...But have you considered this?"
Alexander is a very excitable person, and, despite being not that well known for his work in his band "The Aristocats", he has a passion for his job and will always give everything his all! He's highly emotional, and is therefore very easy to read, but will not hesitate to back off if and when he feels cornered in some way. If you need help, chances are, he knows a guy. He's not exactly entirely humble when it comes to the odd chance when someone knows of his group, or even wants to hear about it, but he's proud of his friends' achievements, despite the fact they're not present with him.
Guideline is pure enthusiasm, with a soft voice to it. Not so much rockstar-esque, but still upbeat! He's a happy boyo !
"Alexander Fiore! Ultimate Drummer! Nice to meet ya!"
"Alright! I'm certain the others'll love your group, though! We're actually looking for new friends!"
"The Cats? Ah sure, we're god damn lovely, if I say so myself!"
Celeste isn't the average person, having a keen interest in weaponry. In truth? It's just because her father taught her marksmanship from quite a young age, after the passing of her mother, as a stress reliever, partially deafening her due to not following safety protocol. It's something she doesn't like to talk about, apart from having a necklace on at all times. If anything, she doesn't class it as a talent, preferring to call herself a team planner because that's precisely what she was going to be geared towards. She's always carrying herself with conviction, not bothering about flamboyancy when something has to be said.
Guideline: Kind of hard outer shell with a clear compassionate streak regarding friends. Is a cinnamon roll, but could probably kill you, basically!
"Name's Celeste. Just call me Cell. At your service, March!"
"Oh yeah! Alex told me about you wanting to join up! I'll let everyone properly introduce themselves - We're more than happy to see you!"
"Jesus Christ! This game's gotta stagnate!"
Gwen always enjoyed making things work. Little motors powering a fan all the way to machines that detect when the mail hits the doormat, her creations are mainly home improvement. Recently, though, mechanics in the sense of cars provided steady work, as she joined up with the independent firm Siren. While not really famous, the portfolio only grew itself and then everything was hooked up, Wallace and Gromit style, just like clockwork. It's a bit of a reliever, a bit of a stresser. That could be why she can be happy one hour then tearing her hair out the next, but also why she's generally a laid back person. Time just kinda slips away when you're having fun!
Guideline: As a general statement, she's the average type who just doesn't really care unless it's out of control. This is shown by her laid-back style of talking as well as dropping a few letters here and there, because comfort is #1 priority.
"Name's Gwen! Mechanical Engineer."
"Hm? Oh, yeah! I just mainly do small-scale machines. Easier that way."
"It's not that impressive. Turn it off and on again's the most common solution, y'know."
Samantha is a nervous individual, able to worm out of most circumstances. She's definitely stronger than she looks, and more often than not has her hands by her throat, due to incessantly fiddling with her scarf. Being incredibly selective with what she tells people, much of her character is a mystery, regarding past, but it can be implied that it was a case of necessity. She says she can feel people staring at her when they are, but that can't be true, right..?
Guideline: Samantha's voice isn't exactly high or low, but is quite timid in nature, given paranoia. She tends to be a lot more nervous when there's a lot of people around, tending to breathe while mid-sentence, just quickly.
"Oh. Right. Sammy Nightingale. I'm the Ultimate Escapist, I guess..."
"Mhm. If you say so."
"Well, it's not exactly a magician's act. Staying out of trouble isn't exactly... groundbreaking."
Tabitha is the sort of person to misplace everything, from thoughts to important items, but something doesn't seem to be completely... right. She outright refuses to tell anyone anything about her personal life, only giving harsh-sounding responses, while looking like she hasn't slept properly for multiple days straight, often sounding it by making everything she says a long mess of words, often pausing in the middle when she forgets something. Shit happens. She's living proof.
Guideline: Tabby's voice is generally very tired-sounding, and not really able to emote anything other than anger because of it, even the very few jokes.
"Tabby. Medic. Fuck off."
"Yeah well have fun getting murdered. I'll be over here."
"Last one's to die's a rotten fuckin egg!"
Nathalia is a very chipper individual, often laughing when she talks and being even more enthusiastic when talking about any of her passions. She is a generally warm person, easily approachable and quite likely to raise the mood when it's tense or aggressive. It's only natural! She's well known in the fashion industry, as you'd expect for the Ultimate Fashion Designer, but outside it, she's just like any other person, and she treats herself as such.
"Heya! I'm Nathalia Schucany, the Ultimate Fashion Designer!"
"Of course I have! What big-shot hasn't had a seasonal show? My favorites are the solstices!"
"Ah-! It's alright! It's the case 90% of the time!"
Michael is a very laid-back person, who can do most work, or he knows who can. Due to his nature of "Sure I'll get on with that in a second" regarding requests, it was more of a happy accident that he ended up being the Ultimate Handyman. If he were honest, he was more of a favours guy. He's very open, and often helps out his friends in whatever ways he can. He's just about that team spirit. However, all is not right -- because he's certain some people are more than capable of murder at the offset, and he's more than weary.
"My name's Mickey. Mickey Samuels. Good to meet you, March!"
"Oh! Sorry, I forgot. Ultimate Handyman. Kind of a misnomer, to be honest."
"Yeah! I mean, it's kinda... stupid to ask people to just up and murder each other. There are people here who look like they'll do it though."
Warren is an open book, for the most part. He does, however, have a more hidden talent: Pattern Spotting. He prides himself on at least 75% accuracy with pure guesses, but it's mainly for frivolous things in nature. While not being either aggressive or passive, he's just there. Cracking jokes, mainly, which can be insensitive. It's just his way of dealing with things. Other than that, he's not really a people person, but will put in a good word with someone else if he thinks you're gonna be alright, and not betray anyone.
"Heya. Name's Warren. Ultimate Speedrunner. Nice to meet you!"
"Things rushed into can be good. Not everything, though."
"If I got to choose? Definitely 100%. Every time. Quality over quantity."
Alycia is a well-known paranormal blogger, tending to go out and take things as well as pictures of anything of note. Despite the interest, she's not what you'd expect, being relatively energetic and not waiting around to tell anything what's good. She won't hesitate to tell a good story, or tell you all about the... Odd items she keeps around her. What's with the obsidian baubles, anyway? What do they do that make them of high value to her..?
"Heeeey! Name's Alycia Ligori! Paranormal Investigator, at your service!"
"Just because I'm into ghosts doesn't mean I have to be depressed, you know! Stereotypes represent a narrow view of the world!"
"Oh yeah. Kinda popular because snap snap, y'know? It's a small community."
Yvette is highly selective about what she tells people. In reality, she's the Ultimate Tactician, but that would paint a large target on her back. She knows it. Yvette is quite intelligent and cold, despite her persona of normality, and is also very difficult to predict and/or read. Honestly? She finds it difficult to feel proper emotion, so faking it until she makes it is the best thing she can do. She is definitely the sort of person to survive this sort of thing, right..?
"My name is Yvette. Ultimate Archivist."
"There isn't any point continuing further. Not quite yet."
"A game were friend murders friend..? Sounds intriguing."
Luca is a very timid boy, tending to think very lowly of himself. Astronomy is really just a hobby, as far as he's concerned. However, he is the walking definition of a people pleaser, often causing himself some harm while working on things for other people, but due to stress tries to limit it by low amounts of interaction. However, there is a lot of internalized self-doubt: an internal voice always saying "Not enough", and id you say anything enough, you start to believe it.
"Oh, hey. I'm Luca. The Ultimate Astronomer..."
"It's more of a hobby. I'm not that great, March."
"The annoying ones always go first, right..? So it's best if we don't get attached. For your sake over mine."
Aaron is an emotional person, and is more than quick to get out anything negative or positive. Being the Ultimate Stylist, he has dealt with some of the best and worst of the fashion industry, and by god will he say something about it if provoked. Doing people's make up - whether his own or other people's - is a big calming agent, and he will happily give someone a makeover if they so much as ask, while bringing up the mood by talking about general things. That's why he is where he is.
"Heya! Name's Aaron! Stylist, at your service!"
"Well, I know you're gonna keep us safe. I'm... Just slightly concerned."
"Whadd'ya mean, kill each other? The idea's not gonna pan out-!"
Arnold is a harsh person on the outside and inside, not really caring about who he upsets. He isn't the type to fake it, he's just what he is. His talent is the Ultimate Leader, simply because he can keep people in line if he wants to. Within the game, though? Not at all. He doesn't want to. The more chaos, the better, simply because it keeps him safe, in the long run. If people leave him alone, they're less likely to do him harm. Of course, he does enjoy playing mind games with those who won't get it, but that leaves him open to them, himself.
"My name's Arnold. Arnold Gold."
"Well, if you need to go cry in a corner, feel free. Suppose people have to sometimes."
"Well, while everyone's getting friendly, I'll take my leave."
Hanna is a generous person, always just listening to whoever's talking. She had an eye injury when she was rather young, but that doesn't impact her other than how she has her hair, which always covers it. She often relies on people to come up with their own solution - as that is definitely better than just saying the answer, as far as growth is concerned - but her formal and business-like state often bleeds into her character when she isn't "working".
"My name is Hanna Dean. I'm the Ultimate Psychologist."
"My... hair? Oh. Right. I'm... I'm half blind."
"Most people would have run away. I'm glad you stayed."
