Characters for Ongoing Animated Series
Project Overview
Yestergirls is a deconstruction of the magical girl genre, examining the lives of a magical girl team in their mid-30s. The script is a dramedy and will feature strong language, violence, and sexual themes (though no sex or nudity).
The format is an audio play supplemented by images (here's a link to the first episode for an example). We have no definitive end to this project, so anyone auditioning for a main character we'd like to be able to stick around as long as their life's circumstances permit. Main characters will have a lot of lines, but they will be spread out as each episode takes a month or two to get out.

Benita is from Venezuela but lives in San Francisco, so she can either have a Californian accent or a bit of a Venezuelan accent. She's a very bubbly and extremely talkative woman around 40-50. She has a classic auntlike personality, nosing herself into other people's businesses and talking excessively about the most personal things as if it were the weather.
This is an extra role, but with a lot of lines and quite a few scenes.

Oh, but it’s very fascinating! Stairways leading into walls. Windows inside the house. And there’s a very spooky correlation to the number 13. Ooooooo!!!
You know, I’m surprised you’re even taking me seriously, to tell you the truth. Most people just roll their eyes when I mention it! And I’m fine with that, it was all fun and games, but there were just some times when I felt like, “what if it all is real,” you know?
Yojigoneko, or Yoji for short, is a robot in a cat plush suit. Originally designed from a super-race of evil monsters, it was repurposed as one of the Rainbow Rangers pet/robot pal. It doesn't necessarily need a gender, so we'll take androgenous voices, though it can have a voice that's more dominately one gender or the other.
Note: We've changed the personality description to this character.
Yoji's personality is very matter-o-fact, but we don't want the character to sound flat. It's cocky, but not in a mean way. A little like Portal 1 GlaDOS in intent, but with a unique spin.
This is a main character role, and we'll hope to have this character for an indefinite period of time.
Pardon me, but unless I’m mistaken, I do believe that we were supposed to be on a mission of grave importance.
I have found four hundred and thirty-three magitronic devices in the complex. Three hundred and forty-one of them are unlikely to be capable of the type of destruction we’re looking for. Of the remaining items, sixty-one of them are either not small enough to be portable and/or can’t be accessed remotely.
[After being told to repeat a conversation Yoji overheard and "do the voices"] (In a nerdy voice)My wife’s cooking casserole tonight.(In a commanding voice)Oh yeah? That sounds pretty good.(nerdy)Yeah, it’s real good. She puts little meatballs inside. It gives it a real kick.
Mike is a bit of a dork. He runs into a real monster, but assumes the the monster is LARPing, so joins in. However, Mike is TERRIBLE at LARPing. This is a humorous character that will need to be able to play-act poorly during the LARP portions.
This is an extra role, but with a lot of lines and a few scenes.

(RPing as some sort of mysterious medieval badass) I just realized, Elder Clementine… This is one of those hellish creatures sent from the Underworld to do the bidding of Lord Hellizar [Hell-ih-zar]

Stratus is a main character. He's the husband of one of the Rainbow Rangers, and billionaire super scientist heir to a fortune. He's from a Final Fantasyesque universe that's big on magical technology. His personality is that of a charming intellectual.
This is a main character role, and we'll hope to have this character for an indefinite period of time.
Military intelligence was pretty certain that he obtained some sort of item from the marketplace before all of these mysterious deaths began to occur, and the marketplace almost exclusively sells magitronics [like magic-tronics without the “c”].
Meatballs? That’s the random meat mashed randomly together with random herbs or something, right?
(After being accused of being a picklepuss.) I am hardly a picklepuss.
Clementine runs into a monster with Mike and the two assume the monster is LARPing. She joins in with the LARP and is pretty good, but still kind of cheesy.

(RPing as a medieval fantasy character) No! You musn’t! If you destroy her, none of us will ever get our magic back!
(RPing as a medieval fantasy character) Serpentine! [serp-en-teen] We wish to join you in your quest to find Felicia, but I believe that your master, Hellizar [hell-ih-zar], would not want her to be killed. She is valuable, and could benefit both the elders and the dark lords alike!
