Main character. Mabuchi Kou is troubled and kind of monotone. Must be able to voice him as a younger kid and as a teen. Voice is low as a teen & Medium high as a kid. Mabuchi loved Futaba all through middle school but transferred schools after his parents divorced, when the two finally meet it is apparent that they still love eachother but Mabuchi is resistant and doesn't want to show his true feelings. He can be really harsh at times, but at the same time seem gentle. Very complex character, must be able to really act the part well.
[young Mabuchi] "It's coming down out of nowhere, huh?"
[Teen Mabuchi] "So thats all it takes to satisfy you, huh? You're pretty cheap, that must be why your relationships are cheap. You're just playing at friendship."
"It's Mabuchi now...Tanaka Kou is gone!"
Can voice as you see fit. Asumi is sort of the ring leader of the mean girls in class, she doesn't like Makita because boys notice her, instead of admitting that she's jealous, she says crude things behind her back.
"Futaba, you can't just take that without paying"
"Yuuri sure is disgusting, how she thinks she can just have any guy!"
Can voice as you see fit. Chie doesn't appear much in the anime after the first two episodes, she follows the lead of Asumi, and both girls are extremely shallow. Chie seems like she doesn't want to be a mean girl, but also doesn't want to be alone.
"Futaba, you're so funny! You're not feminine at all!"
"What are you doing, Futaba. You shouldn't talk to her"
Voice is high and girly, Makita is a sweet girl who is often bullied because she wants boys to think she's cute. The girls in her class misunderstand that for her changing her personality for guys, when she's actually just doing it because she's nervous. Makita falls in love with Kou, not knowing that her best friend Futaba has loved him for a long time.
"If you say you hate me, that means you care about what I'm doing, right?...Take that!"
"Other girls wear makeup and dress cute so people will like them...so why's it so wrong when I do it?"
Kou's older brother and a school teacher, cheerful and friendly. Voice is Medium high, he's an upbeat guy and really cares about his little brother. Often times you can see him apologizing for his brother or trying to cheer up the ones who his brother has been cold toward. He knows that Murao is in love with him but will not cross the line between teacher and student.
"Please be friendly to Kou, he's my little brother"
"You've got to bring your grades up to stay in the advanced course."
Murao is a quiet and serious girl. She has a no nonsense kind of attitude and can come off as standoffish to her classmates, you usually see her by herself and she's often confused about Futaba and Yuuri wanting to talk and and hang out with her. She is in love with Tanaka Sensei, which is Kou's brother and a teacher at her school. When she is with him is the only time that you usually see Murao being girly. She can't help herself around him.
"I don't want to remember anything about my current class"
*Frantic/Crying* "But, I've always loved you! Why can't you understand that!"
Kominato's voice is medium high and he is a super energetic guy. He is in love with Murao but it is completely unrequited. He is honest, and up front about his feelings, because his expression and his overall energy will tell you exactly how he's feeling. He's sort of shameless in a way, he isn't afraid of being himself.
"What are you thinking, why would you say that in front of Murao-san"
"I liked what you said back there, about everyone working together and feeling all warm inside because they're making happy memories. That was cool, man."

"Hey, what's up with you and Tanaka? Come on don't be stingy, give me all the details!
"I hear Tanaka changed schools over summer break."
"WHAT? He didn't say anything to me about it,"
