˗ˏˋ Be More Chill || Genderbent ˎˊ˗
Project Overview
I love Be More Chill, but -- as Christine herself puts it -- there just aren't enough strong roles for women in that musical! That's why I've decided to create a fan recording of the Be More Chill soundtrack... but genderbent.

The voice-actors for Christopher Canigula, Michelle Mell and Josephine Heere have been chosen. The amount of auditions I received for these parts was overwhelming and I was bowled over by the amount of talent that is on this site, but in the end I could only choose one. Thanks to all those that auditioned, and if you were rejected for these roles, don't forget about all the other roles that are still open! The current amount of auditions for non-lead roles is a very small number, so the chance of receiving a role is good :)

Voice Descriptions added
Vocal descriptions have been added to each role! To those of you who auditioned before the descriptions went up, don't worry -- it's still very up to interpretation, these are only guidelines if you're unsure. Plus, you are always welcome to reaudition if you're not satisfied with your first audition!
Awkward high school junior. As Josephine occupies the lead role in this BMC genderbend, with parts in nearly every song, the voice-actor for Josephine must be not only a strong singer and actor, but also very dedicated to this project (although deadlines shouldn't be an issue, you'll need to be willing to put in a lot of time). I imagine Josephine's voice to sound gentle and amiable, but you can't quite lose that awkward-Jeremy-vibe. However, this is just how I imagine it; it's fairly up to interpretation.
Sing any of Josephine's parts from More Than Survive OR from Two Player Game
Sing any of Josephine's parts from Upgrade OR from Be More Chill, Part One (Squip/Josephine Duet -- replace Madeline with Maverick)
Say, "Excellent? But Cole's terrible. He never remembers his... Mrs. Reyes?! You can't let anyone drink from that beaker!"

High school theatre guy, sweetly dorky. Christopher's voice would ideally sound pretty affectionate, but not in a romantic way -- more friendly and welcoming. Be sure to let me really hear his passion for play rehearsal (don't overdo it, though!)
Sing any of Christopher's parts from I Love Play Rehearsal OR Upgrade
Sing any of Christopher's parts from [Gal] That I'd Kinda Be Into OR Voices In My Head
Say, "Excuse me? I think someone wrote 'Girlf' on your backpack?
Josephine's music-obsessed best friend. I imagine Michelle's voice to sound almost fruity, although she is definitely up for interpretation -- the only set-in-stone thing is that her voice should not sound thin or strangled, or I will skip right over you. Actors trying out for Michelle should be absolutely sure that the original key of Michelle in the Bathroom is suitable for their vocal range, and be able to deliver their lines with emotion.
Sing any part of [Michelle] in the Bathroom
Sing any of Michelle's parts from Two Player Game OR The Pants Song
Say, "Evolution's survival of the fittest, right? But now, because of technology, you don't have to be strong to survive -- which means there's never been a better time in history to be a LOSER!"
High school awesomeness personified. Two years of her fellow students worshiping the very ground she walks upon has made it so that Jane feels as though she can get away with anything -- however, this hasn't made her rude or bitter, only extremely self-assured. Deep down, she's quite a sweetheart. I'll be looking for a confident, upbeat voice.
Sing any of Jane's parts from Upgrade
Say and sing Jane's part from The Play (after Jane is squipped)
Say, "Oh, man, I shouldn't say... but it's a good thing I rock at pool."
Five feet five inches of teenage bully. Rach is, well, an interesting role to play. Actors looking to voice Rach should be able to sound intimidating without going over the top. However, she's only the way she is because of her Squip and in reality, she herself has confessed to having originally been "a loser", so although Rach should ideally be able to sound pretty bold, it would be great if there was also a subtle layer of dorkiness underneath. This may be a tough role, so be sure you're up for it before auditioning!
Sing as much of "The Squip Song" as you'd like. Please include at least one spoken line.
The handsomest guy in school; crass and confident. Gotta have that sass if you want to try out for Cole! Besides "be a sassy lad," though, I don't really have too many parameters for his voice. Please bring your own interpretations to the table for this one!
Sing any of Cole's parts from Do You Wanna Hang? OR from Do You Wanna Ride?
Sing any of Cole's parts from The Smartphone Hour
Say any of Cole's lines from More Than Survive (replace names accordingly) OR from Be More Chill Part One (replace Madeline with Maverick)
The second handsomest guy in school; insecure. Honestly, knock yourself out with this one. I'm indecisive on how I want Brock's voice to sound, so I'd love to hear your interpretations!
Sing any part of Do You Wanna Ride?
Sing any of Brock's lines from The Smartphone Hour (replace names accordingly) OR from Upgrade
Say any of Brock's lines from Halloween OR say, "That is so awesome. I mean slutty!"
That guy who knows everyone's business. Johnny, like Cole, should be pretty sassy, except without that extra layer of sharpness on top. Johnny's actor should be able to convey both eagerness and indifference with the same level of skill.
Sing any of Johnny's parts from The Smartphone Hour
Sing Johnny's solo from The Pitiful Children (after Johnny is squipped)
Say, "And then, Maverick was all like--"
As Josephine's Mom: Never wears pants.
As Mrs. Reyes: Obsessed with Hot Pockets and melodrama.
Sing any of Josephine's Mom's parts from The Pants Song
Say, "We will now take a five-minute break so that I can eat a Hot Pocket." [Reyes] OR say, "You drive a hard bargain, kid." [Mom]
Say, "You needy, pathetic, self-centered students... do you think I wanted to teach high school drama in New Jersey?!" [Reyes] OR say, "Josephine won't listen to me, and... I can't blame her." [Mom]
