Summary:
Bruce's childhood best friend, Eliana Forbes, has been angry at Bruce Wayne ever since his return to Gotham. She can't understand what happened to him and why he is not the boy she grew up with.
In a chance encounter with him at her workplace, she is confronted with her past. However, still bitter about what happened between them, she refuses to make amends with him.
Things get complicated when old enemies return. And everything Eliana thought she knew will be turned upside down.

(in his obnoxious playboy cover) Eliana Forbes. I didn’t know you worked here. (E: A few years now. It’s so good to see you again! I really missed you!) It’s been a while, yeah. (E: Where were you?) Could we cut the small talk? I think we’re all rather hungry.

(in tears) El, it’s all my fault! It’s my fault Bruce is gone!
I brought him to where Falcone usually is, and he angrily got out of the car because I told him his father would be ashamed of him for wanting to kill Chill. He went inside, and Falcone must’ve killed him! If I hadn’t brought him there, or if I had just made sure he got out safe, he would be okay!

(after giving her liquid that makes her body burn) How does that feel? (Eliana is silent) Well, look at that. I think I got her to shut up.
Eliana used to have two best friends. Now she had none. One was dead, and the other? Well…he had changed. A lot.
Gotham had been through a lot in the last couple of years. First, fear toxin ran rampant thanks to Dr. Jonathon Crane and…what did the media call it? The League of Shadows? Whatever that meant.
Eliana looked up and found to her shock that she was looking right at the face of Bruce Wayne! A thousand thoughts swarmed into her mind all at once to the point where she couldn’t process them all even if she tried.

(after Batman helps her fight five guys) You’re a little late. (B: What?) You think this is the first time I’ve been attacked here? I’ve lost count of how many creeps have come in here looking for a bit of ‘fun’.
Bruce Wayne! I don’t understand you! What happened between us? Why are you keeping all these secrets from me? Ever since you got back from who-knows-where, you have only cared about one thing: yourself. Well, you know what? Fine. I don’t care anymore.
(extremly drunk) Will…will you give me one if I tell you who the Batman is? It’s Bruce Wayne. (laughs) (B: Lady, you’re wasted.) No, really! Bruce Wayne is Batman. And my daddy is the Joker! (B: Really? What’s your daddy’s name?) I don’t know. What’s your daddy’s name? (B: How many fingers am I holding up?) (laughs) Fifty-five!

Hey, Eliana! I’m swamped. Can you take Table 9? (E: No, no, no, no, no, Jess. I will take any other table. Please do not make me serve Bruce Wayne.) Come on, El, it’s the dinner rush and I have several orders to fill. I’ll pay you back with something, I promise.
Whoa, El, if I put an egg on you, I could have a fried egg in seconds. What’s got you so steamed?
Holy freaking crap, El! What happened to you? (E: To be honest, I still don’t really know. I mean, I was kidnapped by five men, but the thing is they were all working for someone else. But no one would tell me who it was or why he wanted me. It’s so frustrating.) Forget that! Are you okay? Those sickos tortured you! (E: I’m fine, Jess. I’m just recovering.) (pointing out her broken fingers) This is ‘fine’?
I specifically ordered that she not get killed. And what do you do? You nearly kill her. If Batman hadn’t come in, she would’ve died which would’ve ruined the whole thing! Do you realize what you’ve done? You’ve made me grateful that Batman saved the day!
You see, I wanted Batman to come and all, and it’s great that he did. But you were all SO busy trying to kill the girl off that he easily knocked you all down like little bowling pins!
Ah, ta ta ta ta, let’s not get too worked up now. Or else we’ll miss the moment when Batman comes flying in. And believe me, you don’t wanna miss that.

You have no idea how good it is to see your face, Eliana. Are you sure you’re up for talking about what happened? You just woke up a few hours ago.

I, uh, I bet you must be hungry. (gives her a granola bar) It’s not much, but it should hold you over for a little while.
Guys, I think she’s had enough for now. (C: You ain’t going soft, are you?) Look at her, she can barely stand up! (C: So what? We were told to break her.) Yeah, and she’s broken. You won. Now give her a rest. (C: She’s had enough of a rest! This is the best game yet!) It isn’t a game! You’re killing her!
(to an extremley drunk Eliana) I think you’ve had enough.

It's not a problem, Mr. Wayne. I’m just glad she’s getting home safe.

Do you feel like a prince in this castle? (B: Well, it’s not really… Yeah, I do. It’s a tough job though.) Can I be the princess of the castle? (B: Sure you can.) Yay!
I’m five years old. (B: I’m eight.) So, you’re not much older than me then!

I’m Bruce Wayne. (E: I know. I’m five years old.) I’m eight. (E: So, you’re not much older than me then!) I guess not. (E: Do you feel like a prince in this castle?) Well, it’s not really…Yeah, I do. It’s a tough job though. (E: Can I be the princess of the castle?) Sure you can.

We were told you had a high pain tolerance. We came prepared.
Home is a loose term for you now. (E: What do you plan to do?) All in good time, sweetheart. We’re gonna have some real fun in the days ahead. You will be broken. (E: Try. Your. Best.) Oh, don’t worry. We’ll do more than that.

What were you doing talking to Bruce Wayne anyway? (E: I’m supposed to be fixing his car once I get this one done.) Why is he coming here of all places? (E: Not sure.) You seemed pretty peeved at him. I didn’t even know you knew him.
Well, to be honest, we can’t figure out what you were doing to fix it because we don’t know the exact problem. (E: This place would fall apart in a matter of days without me here. You all realize that, right?) All too well. That’s why you aren’t ever allowed to leave again.
