A Monster Like No Other - The Old Mage

Project Overview

It's a poem series that I'm working on to put on YouTube, Soundcloud, and other areas that allow for the posting of Audiobooks.


It should have 3 episodes to start with which I'm still working on but for now, this casting call is for the first episode. The intended final product shouldn't be longer than 5 minutes if only a little longer.

It's very comedic and I worked on it to be that way, the intention to be funny should be an important factor in the thought process of how you should voice the characters.

The work will be paid work. Right now I can afford $25 for each character. 2 in total which are The Young Man who also narrates, and the Old Mage.

He's adventurous, young sounding, quite intelligent and wise for his age.  Mid-High voice range. He would have a British accent. Think of Sam from Lord Of The Rings.

  • Within the mountains where the snow had thawed

  • We stood there for a while, his eye facing mine
    That gaze was so vile, yet our eyes intertwine.

  • It was the mage in crouching position, his forehead popped a vein,
    As his eye met mine, a plop had sounded, no need to explain.

He's a funny old man that really likes to joke around and pick on the young people. He sounds a bit like Merlin when he was trying to be an old man or perhaps Boomie in Avatar The Last Airbender but with a British accent. Perhaps he could also be like the professor Filius Flitwick in Harry Potter, the one that teaches the levitation spell.

  • "That very vial is the answer, it has just what you need!"

  • "That potion I gave to you was to cure your rancid breath!
    If I kept inhaling that I would have choked to death!"

  • "You can find that monster exactly 24 leagues north!
    We'll leave at dawn using horses henceforth!"
