Role assigned to: Paul Warren

A pre-war ghoul, Herschel, and his wife, Goldie, retired to Miami before the bombs dropped. Chronologically, Herschel is 276 years old, though he acts and sounds between 60-70.

Herschel is a grouchy, petty old man who is quick to anger and spends most of his days bickering with his wife over the smallest of things. He means well, however, and at heart, he cares about his family and community. He dotes on his adopted granddaughter, Tova, and is slightly hard of hearing.

Herschel is a New York native of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. The ability to employ a good New York accent is a must. Knowledge of Yiddish is not necessary but highly considered.

  • This place used to be paradise. Now
you got these young kids from up
north, with their souped-up cars. And
don't even get me started on those
    slaver schmucks.

  • But people out here survive. Some
folks scavenge, others steal. The good
    ones band together, form communities
    for protection.

  • I still remember when this place was
peaceful — beautiful. We had the
    beaches, the celebrities. People came
from all over just to vacation here.
    Families with children — good,
    hard-working Americans. Ah, but that
    was a long time ago.
