Ted was born into a raider gang and not much else is known about his past except he killed every member of the gang. He joined the NCR after a heavy screening process and became a ranger, known throughout the NCR as the best. He taught many young NCR cadets including Ace who views Ted as a father figure. He fatefully led a mission to an irradiated vault known as vault 71 in Idaho where he sacrificed himself for his squad. He didn't die there but became a ghoul, trapped inside a bleak vault. While lost Ace and the group stumbled across vault 71 where they freed a still sane Ted. Ted accompanies them until they get to NCR territory where they bring him back in a vertibird.
