If the VA for the child Ashley cannot/does not reprise their role, I am fine with having multiple VA’s for Ashley throughout her lifespan. In the second book, Ashley is a lot more caring and understanding and is trying to put her best face forward. She only shows up in one scene, but she has a conversation with Marla that kinda triggers some mixed emotions in the protagonist.
“Hello Marla.”
“So how is life with your parents?"
“Oh yeah. His name is Risio. I totally thought he was a perverted creep at first, but I warmed up to him. Turns out he actually is a half creep!”
(solemn) “There was another girl just like you.”
“She made me think of you for whatever reason, just more aggressive. It scared me to think about. How people like me and Jessica made a pitiful monster of not only one person, but more. How many people did we break?”
“But seeing you…it gives me hope. Things worked for you, right?”
You have a sweet voice, though I'm not sure it fits the sound I'm looking for with Asley.
