Strixhaven Week 3
Project Overview
Wizards of the Coast has begun releasing online web fiction for Magic: the Gathering once again! It is our goal on the Voice of All podcast to bring these stories to life through audio.
This week we are casting for roles in two Strixhaven chapters: Extracurriculars and The Chains That Bind. Strixhaven is their newest set focusing on the tropes of magical schools and we have many major roles to cast. You can read the stories here:

We are looking to keep up with the release of Wizards' stories as best as possible and will release our version the second following Friday, so expect to be cast this week and have your lines to me within a few days. This schedule may be slightly different for the time being as they are releasing two stories a week, but our schedule will remain one a week.
As a general casting note, I do not typically have any voice requirements in mind for characters. I would much rather hear your interpretations and choose from among them.
Payments listed are for this particular set of stories. If they appear in future chapters, the value there may differ based on number of lines, but all chapters will be paid. All chapters and characters will be paid at once near the end of the set's production.

Dina is a dryad student of Witherbloom college, where they study the cycle of life and death. Magical biology basically. She works as a tutor in her off time. She has a dark sense of humor and has a habit of saying whatever's on her mind. Her methods are unconventional, but effective. What better way to motivate a student than to have spiders spawn from their ears?
In her freetime she is reclusive and spends most of her time researching ways to revitalize her homeland. The glade where she was born was destroyed by a blight and she feels it is her duty to bring those who died back to life.
Dina is a major character in Strixhaven. Should she reappear in future chapters, you'll be asked to reprise the role.
"Don't be silly. Spiders coming out your ears is hardly deadly... Unless they're venomous. Are they venomous?"
[calmly rifling through supplies as if there isn't a problem at all]
"I'm here to ask you for a favor. I need you to take a short trip for me. If I succeed, you'll be back here. Like you never left." [With some anxiety. She is talking to several small critters that she plans to kill and resurrect]
"That's not true! I want to know why I am the only one left! Why me over all the others? There needs to be a reason!" [With some desperation. Why did she survive a blight while others didn't?]
Quintorius is a huge nerd. He's also an elephant dude, which is pretty neat. This loxodon student of lorehold loves history and magic in equal measure and is extremely excitable, whether its his own discovery in a book or watching others perform fantastic magical feats, Quint, as his friends call him, is filled with exuberance.
Quintorius is a major character in Strixhaven. Should he reappear in future chapters, you'll be asked to reprise the role.
Oh my... This is—wait, I've seen this before.... I knew it! Arthelas the Magnificent and Bairod Horizon-Seeker were the same person." [Excited! He's made a historical breakthrough!]
"No. No way is that going to work..." [Watching action in a sports game, shocked a player is about to try something crazy]
"There's always a spell." [with a shrug]
Killian is a powerful student of Silverquill, the college of magic through words and wit. He's a star player on the college's Mage Tower team and a master of using ink magic, which requires shouting jabs and insults as a catalyst. Much of his insults are directed at his father, the Silverquill Dean Embrose Lu. Embrose is abusively strict and demanding of his son, resulting in a boy who's steely and resolute with a constant rage simmering underneath.
Killian is a major character in Strixhaven. Should he reappear in future chapters, you'll be asked to reprise the role.
"What magic is this?" [A shocked whisper]
"That's what I get for letting a Prismari player steal my inkling from right under my nose. I cost my team that point, and Silverquill lost the Mage Tower match. That's my father for you." [bitterly]
"You're so self-righteous! You're always willing to tell others that they're not worthy, not right for your school! This is not your school! This is our school!" [Venting angrily at his father (who isn't there) to fuel his spells in battle]
Lisette is one of the deans of Witherbloom college, where they study the cycle of life and death. Magical biology basically. She is outgoing and outwardly caring for the students, meeting with them frequently and encouraging them to make friends and connections.
"Off to the Prismari party? All the professors are going, too. If you're not in a hurry, we can go together."
"I know who you are—what you are. And I'll die before I stop trying to get you as far away from this school as I can." [Threatening]
"Professor Onyx. How are you settling in with your classes?" [Greeting a newer teacher]
Valentin is one of the deans of Witherbloom college, where they study the cycle of life and death. Magical biology basically. He is a vampire and also a huge grump, focused entirely on his work, to the point he denies being friends with the other dean he's talking to. Despite all this, he still cares deeply about the students and will not throw someone out for a mistake.
"How much time am I expected to give?"
"Do you give all your charges such awful advice? Young Dina shows drive, unlike some of the more unfortunate members of our studentry."
"You do know that this is an institution of learning, eh? I trust that you have learned something this night—that you are the student, and we are the instructors. We painstakingly assemble lessons, and you follow them to the letter. Venturing outside of that dynamic is . . . fraught. Such a lesson will be valuable in your future coursework."
Maraff is a student who's been referred to Dina for a tutoring session. He shows promise, but his extremely poor attitude and lack of focus has resulted in him being held back. He brags and constantly insults those around him - until Dina puts him in his place.
"I don't know why I'm here. I don't need tutoring, and definitely not from another student—no offense."
"It's possible that Professor Tivash has a vendetta against me. I'm definitely his best student. Why else has he not placed me into his advanced classes? Dealing with other first-years is like being in a room full of babies."
"Aren't you supposed to know?!" [Panicked as spiders are suddenly spawning out of his ears]
This dryad, seen in a vision conversing with the dead, is implied to be Dina's predecessor. Dryads don't have parents per se. When one dies, another sprouts in their place. She is beautiful and kind and convinces Dina to let the dead rest.
"Does it matter, love? This is what you've desired, is it not?"
"A reason? You mean proof that you play some pivotal role in the schemes of an unseen architect? I wish I had an easy answer, if only to give you peace."
"It's time to be whole again, my love."
Plink is a witch of Witherbloom college, where they study the cycle of life and death. Magical biology basically. She is a friend of Rowan's and fairly excitable.
"Did you hear about the duel yesterday? Dinsley's exam construct was destroyed. That Silverquill mage might as well have just set him on fire. Would have hurt less." [friendly chatter over bar food]
"Oh, it's your brother! Hello, Will."
"He's your brother. That's not something to take for granted." [Gently urging her friend to talk to her brother she's been avoiding for weeks]
Auvernine is a witch of Witherbloom college, where they study the cycle of life and death. Magical biology basically. She is a friend of Rowan's and fairly quiet and focused.
"I don't understand why they can't just wait until the Mage Tower match. Prismari, Silverquill—they can blast each other as much as they want, then. All these duels are just pointless posturing." [friendly chatter over bar food]
"We figured out the conversion! We're going to Widdershins to get supplies."
"The potion requires more power than I can get from pure herbology. But if I can get it right, this could help a lot of people. Some sacrifices are necessary for the greater good, don't you think?"
