Danganronpa: Discordant World

Project Overview

Seventeen gifted and distinguished students, all from different fields of art and science, sentenced by an unknown organization to spend the rest of their days on an island. The only way out is to kill each other. What could possibly go wrong?

Inspired by other games such as Your Turn To Die, Zero Escape, and Ace Attorney, Danganronpa: Discordant World is a unique take on the original Danganronpa series featuring seventeen new students in a fully-voiced audio series.

Each lead audition contains the character’s introduction as well as two lines from the official script. All other auditions contain some scripted lines and some miscellaneous lines written for the purpose of the audition.

In your audition, please leave your discord or any alternate method of contact so we can reach you should you be cast.

Another way to submit your audition is through a Google Doc.

If you have any questions, feel free to dm us on Twitter (@DiscordantWorld) or Discord (AStrangePerson#0992).

Heikin Mono, Ultimate Lucky Student
open

Heikin Mono serves as the protagonist of the game. She is an Ultimate Lucky Student about to start her first fall semester at Hope’s Peak Academy. Although intimidated by the other “real” Ultimates on this island, Heikin does her best to be as assertive and helpful as possible; often, her eagerness to help causes even more problems for those around her, although she usually escapes these situations unscathed. Perhaps that’s why she’s an Ultimate Lucky Student.

Heikin is a high-school junior.

Heikin should have a medium voice that can reveal her emotions easily. A good reference is Kaede Akamatsu from DR:V3.

  • (Confident.) I’ll do everything I can and in my power to see that people who have done wrong are brought to justice.

(Friendly.) Oh, I didn’t see you there. My name is Heikin Mono.

  • (Warm, Conspiratorial.) I’ll let you in on a little secret: I think there’s a way out of here that we just can’t see yet, but believe me when I say I will find it.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. See you all soon.

  • (Commanding, Confident. Closing Argument.) Here’s what happened!

(Angry.) Maybe it’s because I know that no sane person would ever trap a bunch of strangers on an island and make them kill each other!

Although he’s not the smartest person you’d ever meet, Jay is someone who will always put his needs before anyone else. Almost immediately, he assumes the “fatherly” position toward the freshmen and sophomores on this island, caring for them as much as he can. Many of the other participants on the island trust him enough to tell him their secrets. Being at the top of his class at the Acies Military School, Jay knows a thing or two about fighting and weapons but will never hurt someone for his own sake.

Jay is a high-school senior.

Jay should have a low voice that can alternate between loud / commanding and soft / warm.

  • (Commanding.) Stand back! I will protect all of you. Do you trust me?

(Cold.) My name is Jay. Jay Konokatachi. I am here to serve and protect.

  • (Low, threatening.) If anyone here breaks the order we have maintained…prepare to suffer a punishment worse than what that bear promises.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. I'll see you soon.

  • (Almost Authoritative.) I’m going to try to swim over there, see if I can get the yacht’s attention.

(Calm, sadly.) There’s not much you can do now. Just…be brave.

Heather Porter, Ultimate Defense Attorney

Heather is…an interesting character. She repeatedly states that she does what’s best for herself and everyone around her, yet she somehow manages to put everyone into trouble. Her approach to this killing game is a unique one; sometimes, she will stand against it and fight with everyone else to end it. Other times, she…seems to enjoy the game? Really, her stance stems from whatever she’s feeling at that moment.

Heather is a high-school…we don’t know, actually.

Heather should have a medium-high voice that can vary between unfeeling and maniacal.

  • (Smiling, cold.) This is all so…boring. Why don't I make it a little more fun?

(Amused.) The name’s Heather Porter. This place is…quite the spectacle, isn’t it?

  • (Smiling, cold.) To be honest, I…haven’t decided what I'll do yet. Maybe I’ll help fight and help stop this. Or…I’ll play the game.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. I’ll see you then.

  • (Maniacal, gloating.) You’ve ruined their trust. They’ll never believe in someone like you. They’ll never honor your promise.

(Unfeeling, stoic.) Funny you mention spines a lot when making threats. Do you snap a lot of spines?

Johnny Ruby, Ultimate Thief
open

Johnny is considered by many of the other participants to be the most annoying of them all. Despite being the shortest one there, his ego is through the roof and his remarks are sharp and relentless as he insults even the most kind, caring, and helpful participants. Full of energy, he always boasts his athletic prowess whenever he can, often whooping as he runs and flips. Johnny perceives this killing game as more of a game with a prize at the end of the tunnel, and he claims to have developed multiple strategies to help him survive until the end.

Johnny is a high-school freshman.

Johnny should have a medium-high, loud and boasting voice. Think of the TF2 Scout’s voice.

  • (Incredulous.) Oh, hell no. I ain’t trapped in here. I’m gonna find a way out, with or without all of you.

(Pleasant, joke-like.) Pleased to meetcha. My name’s Johnny Ruby, and I’m about the most trustworthy guy you’ll ever meet! Trust me!

  • (Teasing.) Oh, you making fun of my height? Ha! Joke’s on you, pal. At least I’m not a tall, lumbering idiot like you.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. What? You expect me to end with a farewell message? Like hell I will!

  • (Amused.) Huh? You wanna run that by me again? You’re too soft to kill me. You’re a softy!

(Grinning.) He’s betting me twenty bucks to eat this fork.

Syndieny Cadella, Ultimate Prophet
open
Unpaid

Syndieny is immediately singled out as the “crazy lady” of the group. Referring to herself in the third person for some odd reason, Syndieny has a severe case of synesthesia which causes her to automatically see and associate every stimulus with a certain color. “Reading” these colors causes her to be able to “predict” actions people around her will do. Syndieny doesn’t believe she is a prophet, per se, but rather believes she is good at reading people and predicting their next actions. When not bombarded with flashes of light and color, Syndieny does her best to contribute to class trials, attempting to “read” people as much as she can.

Syndieny is a high-school sophomore.

Syndieny should have a medium to high voice with some vocal fry when she’s anxious, scared, or suffering from an overload of stimulus.

  • (Menacing, almost possessed.) Ursidae, Ursidae. You won’t kill me, will you? No, you want me to kill. You want us all to do so.

(Almost like a greeting.) Flames, fire. Fire will consume Syndieny Cadella soon. She is sure of it.

  • (Dramatic, slightly scared.) The world is blue. Blue is safe. But the world won’t stay blue for long. Oh, no. The world turns purple with Syndieny’s prophecies. Yes, they do. And when it turns purple…how many are safe?

Danganronpa: WD. World Discordant. (banshee scream)

  • (Quietly, intelligently.) Syndieny thinks it would give you a purpose to murder. A motive.

(Frantic, panicked.) Go away! Syndieny wants Dina and Dina only!

Adam Ralston, Ultimate Anatomist

Adam Ralston is a bear. Not a literal one, but a big, hulking bear that seems intimidating at first, partly because of his anger spikes and his habit of unnecessarily cursing (No lie. He carries around a mug that says “Fuck you” on it). However, Adam learns to let go of his big and brash persona early on and appears to be more caring as the story continues, particularly to the younger kids. When it comes to trials, his skills as an anatomist from Iracundia High are often seen coming in handy.

Adam is a high-school senior.

Adam should have a medium-low voice. This character shouts and swears a lot.

  • (Dark.) You think that’s bad? I've seen shit you can’t even begin to imagine.

(Pleasant.) My name? It’s Adam Ralston. I’d say nice to meet you…if we were in more pleasant circumstances.

  • (Calm.) I trust all of us. I trust that we are all good people no matter what. I'd never kill anyone, and I'm sure these people won't do the same.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. Don’t keep us waiting.

  • (Angry, shouting.) Why didn’t you help us at all, huh? Why were you lying to us the whole damn time?!

(Disgruntled.) Nope. I’m in high school. I’m not a dad. Jay’s not a dad, either. He’s acting strange.

Dina looks intimidating, being taller than almost everyone on the island, but she is possibly the most selfless person you will ever meet. Currently at the top of her class at Wulung Academy of Gifted Writers, Dina believes her own life is less important than the lives of those around her and only believes she is good for the messages, emotions, and feelings she spreads through her words.

Dina is a high-school junior.

Dina should have a medium to low, maternal-like voice.

  • (With authority.) Listen to me. As long as I am here, I promise nothing will happen to any of you.

(Pleasant, then serious.) My name is Dina Dai Mei-Mei, and as long as you don’t bring up my work, we will get along well.

  • (Pleasant, patiently authoritative.) If we could bring a little more life into the place, it would seem more like a home, would it not? Come along. We will do just that.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. I hope we meet soon.

  • (Loud, commanding.) Okay! On the count of three, we lift, okay? One, two, (grunt.) three!

(Patient, warm.) It’s necessary in times like these. A little selflessness doesn’t hurt.

Vihaan is a young genius, rising to worldwide recognition for improving and modernizing small villages in Hyderabad, India which soon became representations of a tech-dominated yet green future. In reality, though, Vihaan's self-esteem is quite low; he made his official title "Electrician" because he truly believes that's all he deserves. However, just because he views himself as unimportant doesn't mean he views everyone around him as more important than him.

Vihaan is a high-school sophomore.

Vihaan should have a medium to low, thoughtful voice. His accent should not be overwhelming.

  • (Gravely.) There are very important people here, people that are too important to die. I’m not one of them. And neither are you.

(Quietly, annoyed.) You want to know my name? My name is Vihaan Dara. Yes, yes, make fun of my accent. It’s not like I haven’t heard these jokes before.

  • (Quietly, thoughtful.) This is all futile, you know? No matter how hopeful you sound now, the killing game will begin. Someone is bound to start it.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. I’ll see you soon.

  • (Sadly.) Think you could talk to him? See if he’s okay? I think I touched a nerve.

(Quietly, hopeless.) We are going to reach the point where anyone considering killing will be unable to. Out of weakness.

Harmony Spain, Ultimate Recon

Harmony Spain, despite being seen as flirty, isn’t very talkative to large groups of people. In bigger groups of people she fades into the background, quietly watching everyone. Harmony however is very social in smaller groups and cares for the group as one of the more trusting members of the group. Her Ultimate contributes to trials and normal lifestyle with her sight being one of the strongest known. The toll of this game however is shown to greatly affect her as her personality changes slowly.

Harmony is a high-school senior.

Harmony should have a medium-high, snooty and somewhat bragging voice. This character shouts and curses a lot.

  • (Calm, confident.) Nobody will be murdering anyone else under my trained focus.

(Pleased.) Harmony Spain! The Ultimate Reconnaissance, or Recon for short.

  • (Teasing.) I’ll always be watching you. (short giggle) Only joking there, just messing with you!

Danganronpa: Discordant World. I’ll see you beautiful people there.

  • (Slightly teasing at start.) Sweeties, you’re embarrassing each other.

(Serious tone.) You dug your own hole when you did that. Take responsibility.

Yeaaaaah! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the stage the worldwide sensation, the man behind the mask, Luke Frogale! Luke, better known by his stage name, Br0nz3, is an energetic young man who lives for the spotlight. He flaunts his dramatic personality wherever he goes, constantly demanding attention--though he's always seen with his mask on. He is what you'd describe as self-aggrandizing, selfish, and overall, a jerk.

Luke is a high-school junior.

Luke should have a medium-low voice full of energy but with the ability to become higher pitched, soft and emotional. Luke is a tenor and, being a singer, should be able to, well, sing.

  • (Pompous.) You’ve never heard of me? Tch. You’ve never listened to real music.

(Friendly.) Yo! The name's Luke Frogale, but you probably know me by the name Br0nz3! I got followers from nearly every country!

  • (Excited.) Oh, the mask? It's part of my outfit. Pretty fucking neat, right? I got this handmade.

    Danganronpa: D-W! Yeaaaaaah!” (crazy run)

  • (Confident.) Hey, I’m sure they’d help us. Or they’d help me. After all, I am Br0nz3.

(Nervous, borderline panic.) Right. I’m going to get…some…yeah. Food. I’ll go get food.

Collbourn Rota, Ultimate Novelist

Absolutely no nonsense. Collbourn is sharp, steel-minded, and spontaneous. He is also incredibly arrogant; if someone’s views don’t align with his own, why should he listen to them? His background as a fiction novelist has given him the ability to envision multiple “endings” to his current situation, but this doesn’t always mean he makes the correct choice, and his overwhelming arrogance often leads to him making poor judgement calls.

Collbourn is a high-school senior.

Collbourn should have a medium to tenor voice with a slight nasal to reflect his arrogance.

  • (Neutral, unbothered.) Seventeen people in a high school, forced to kill each other. And we’re all children, too. Bonus points, I suppose.

(Annoyed.) My name is Collbourn Rota. Why do you ask?

  • (Intrigued.) Here’s to hoping there’s a safe way out. There’s a chance we can reach a happy ending, one with no casualties. (muttering) It’s a rare chance, even in fiction.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. See you soon.

  • (Almost condescending) If we can see the boat from here, that boat can definitely see us. Why do you think they haven’t sent help yet?

(Irritated, steely) Stop! Yelling! At each other! If you want to argue, go somewhere else.

Being the Ultimate Tactician, Circe’s gears were already turning when she woke up on this island. Sharp-tongued, quick-witted, and excellent at reading others, Circe is not hesitant to use others to get what she wants and is not above twisting truths to bend others to her will. Feelings? What feelings? They don’t matter in this game, and Circe understands that.

Circe is a high school…we don’t know, actually.

Circe should have a medium-low, almost sultry voice to convey that she is a potential threat to the group.

  • (Smirk.) Oh, doll. Don't think I can't see right through you.

(Pleasant.) Circe. Circe Aria. Now that I've told you my name, why don't you tell me yours?

  • (Confident.) Oh, you don't know? I have a personal agenda that’ll take me to the very top, and this introduction is just one small step in my plan.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. See you all soon!

  • (laughs.) What the shit? A build-a-bear is gonna be the main event for our meet-and-greet session?

Elise is a very timid and insecure girl that isn’t very experienced with social interaction. She finds comfort in the animal life around her, and rarely talks to other people on her own accord. When she first meets everyone else on the island, she is intimidated by them. Elise often carries a lot of self-doubt and gets easily frightened by the simplest things.

Elise is a high-school freshman.

Elise should have a high-pitched, soft-spoken voice that should reflect her tendency to easily become frightened easily.

  • (Frightened.) A k-k-killing game? S-so…you mean we have to…

(Awkward.) H-hi. Y-you want to know my name? My name––Elise. Elise Frenom. Sorry…I’m not that great with social interactions…or interactions in general…

  • (Bitter.) Humans are different from animals. You know why? Because I’ve never met an animal that does a bad thing for no reason.

Danganronpa: Discordant World. I’d…like to go, please…

Red and black. A tophat hiding an enigma. Evan is cold and mysterious, acting on a rash impulse that may be uncomfortable and even scary to some of the others. At least, he tries to keep this up for as long as he can before he ends up being a mild annoyance to one person in particular. His supposed love for drama causes him to try to undermine the cohesion of the group a little too often. But…who is he? Does his red and black showman attire hide something more…sinister?

Evan is a high-school…we don’t know, actually.

Evan has a medium-high voice with somewhat of a dramatic flair to it.

  • (Snarky.) Want to try your luck with me? See how far you get.

(Dramatic.) Evan Coldfield here. Pick a card. Any card. Was your card the Ace of Spades? That's funny, 'cause I got it right under my sleeve!

  • (Bragging.) I win at everything. It's just what I do! And you bet I will win this game, no matter the cost.

    Danganronpa: Discordant World. See ya!

Strong, independent, and inspirational, Maylie almost immediately takes the position as “leader”. Although she is seen as a “humble” sculptor, her commanding yet kind voice, impressive height, and ability to put her thoughts into action make her immediately singled out to be a figure of authority on this island. It doesn’t hurt that Maylie is also one of the most open people on the island, willing to share any and all ideas she has with the rest of the group with the mindset that they’re all going to get off this island alive. Maylie takes pride in her art, stating that her role is to spread the stories of the people she sculpts to those who may not know and understand their stories.

Maylie is a high-school junior.

Maylie should have a medium-to-high bubbly and slightly shouting voice that has the capability to become softer and more emotional. Inspiration can be drawn from SDR2’s Ibuki Mioda.

  • (Confident.) I know this seems like a dire situation, but I believe that we’re all strong, that we can get past anything!

(Pleased.) You wanted to talk to me? My name is Maylie Leigh. I wish you had caught me at a better time…I’ve been working, and my hands aren’t very clean right now.

Damon starts off the series being aloof to his situation. He is bright and cheery, attempting to make everyone around him feel better and often echoing the ideas of others, never quite inserting his own. Being the Ultimate Photographer, his observations have the potential to be of use during class trials, but his denial of the reality of these circumstances comes off as more than an annoyance to the others. If he can’t see it, it doesn’t exist.

Damon is a high-school freshman.

Damon is a tenor; he should have a medium-high, somewhat airy voice.

  • (Reassuring.) I don’t know what’s going on, but I promise you, we’ll all be okay by the end of this.

Rose, or as she calls herself, ‘Rose Fucking Morningstar,’ is a vigilante who wants to try and rid the world of as many evildoers as she can find. She’s a loud, abrasive, and headstrong individual who takes her morals as far as she’s physically able, and never worries about sharing what she’s thinking. As much as she tries to be a noble crusader, though, if you’re willing to risk being on the receiving end of her anger, it’s pretty easy to distract her with petty insults.

Rose is a high-school junior.

Rose has a naturally low speaking voice, about where a female tenor’s natural singing voice would be if she could sing, which she can’t. Her voice is a bit scratchy and rough around the edges, and even when she’s happy, she sounds pissed off. This character shouts and curses a lot.

  • (Smug.) Kill to win, huh? Well, we’ll see about that.

(Dark, brooding.) Rose Morningstar. That’s my name. We won’t be seeing each other a lot, but if we do, stay the fuck out of my way.
